Cullens was for sale in 1894, as a two storey house with kitchen and 5 bedrooms. It had two
shops, a grocery and a bar with a dining room and drawing room. It had stabling for 2 horses,
a cow house and store room. It had two yards and both yards had an entrance gate. It was a
bona fide house and in 1894 was 'upwards of 60 years in the hands of the Cullen family'. Teresa
Cullen was widowed in 1919 and carried on running the public house until 1962 and it was
known locally as 'The Widow Cullens'. It was thatched in 1988 and Licken's Bootshop was
incorporated into the building circa 1986.

Bolands was for sale in 1925 described at being on the corner of the Kilmacud road and the Road
to Bray. It had 8 apartments and an attractive Façade. It had a gated entrance from the Kilmacud
Road and a storage and bottling facility. When James Boland took over in 1898 he called it 'The
Stillorgan House', it has had numerous owners since the 1960's and has been called Bolands,
Cassidys and McGowans but in recent years it has reverted back to having 'Bolands' over the door.
