NAME Dal Riada
AREA LOCATION Corner of Avoca Avenue and Grove Avenue
MAP LOCATION OSI map of 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Woodlands but is
unnamed.
GENERAL A three storey spacious Victorian House with rose beds, tennis court
and woodland garden. It had stabling and a two storey coach house. There was a fire in the
house in 1956. A radiogram and furniture were destroyed but the fire was contained to one
room.
Originally it had a gatelodge on Grove Avenue but this lost its purpose and connection with
the house when Judeville (Grove Avenue) was built in the grounds in the 1960's.
YEAR BUILT circa 1863
VALUATION In 1910 the valuation was 61 pounds and in the 1901 census it is noted
as having 16 rooms occupied by family.
