NAME Mount Dillon/Mount Carmel Convent

MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Roebuck and it
is annotated as Mount Dillon and Mount Carmel Convent respectively.
GENERAL ‘There is a dwelling house two stories high consisting of parlour, drawing room,
breakfast parlour, four bedrooms, with basement story, stabling for eight horses, coach house and yard,
walled garden, turret and green house and ornamental plantations.’ (Brassington 1832)
Today the site holds, Mount Carmel Monastery, the Islamic Centre and St Killian's German School.
YEAR BUILT circa 1780
VALUATION In 1899 the valuation was 170 pounds and in the 1911 census it is noted as
having 24 rooms occupied by family.
