AREA LOCATION 46 Mount Merrion Avenue adjoining Marino Park.
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of
Blackrock and it is annotated as Rockville and The Elms respectively.
GENERAL Two storey non basement on Mount Merrion Avenue. It had a gate
lodge and a gardener's cottage. For sale in 1950 on 6.5 acres and with 720 foot frontage to
Mount Merrion Avenue.
'The Blackalls of Marino Park were very friendly with The O'Connor Don and his family whose son lived
at the Elms. Although there was a bridge linking the two properties, such were the conventions of the
time that when the Blackalls went to dinner at The Elms they were chauffeur driven down the avenue
of Marino Park to the road, then a sharp turn up the avenue to the Elms.' William Blackall
