In providing the information on the occupiers of these houses we have used the following sources.
Thom’s directories, contemporaneous newspapers, Valuation Office records, Registry of Deeds, NAI Census & Wills and OSI Maps. If there are additional sources used they are listed on the individual House page.
For the family trees, the source list is rather lenghty but in the main, dates for births marriage and deaths have been taken from the Irish Genealogy website, Familysearch and Catholic Parish Registers at the NLI. Dates, outside the periods covered by these websites, have been gleaned from Irish and British newspapers. We have also used the local Church of Ireland Registers for Stillorgan (St Brigids) and Blackrock (All Saints and Carysfort).
Headstone inscriptions from various graveyards have been used to construct trees particularly those from local graveyards/cemeteries - Stillorgan & Taney graveyards and Deansgrange cemetery.
Information from the National Archives of Ireland, Will Calendars and Census Records have been amagmated into a source file for each house and each family.
We would like to thank the people that provided us with family documentation, including diaries, deeds, photographs and letters. In particular the following families:-
Guinness Forrest Morrow
Roe Figgis Mrs Eleanor Pomagalski
Stuart Hopkins Fawsitt
Darley Mitchell Mr Mike French
McCormick Plunkett Haughton
Jameson Croasdell Vance
Kinahan Traynor Meldon
Somerville-Large Lucas George Wingfield, Palisade, Colorado, USA
Orpen Wilson Kate Cann
Hamilton de Montfort
Werner Findlater
Jackson Blackall
The source files are large and the cost of putting these online is beyond our means currently but we are happy to send you a link to an entry or a copy of an particular source document if it is for your own family research.
Regards
The Team
