NAME Maryville/Beverston/Beverston House

MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Roebuck
and it is annotated as Beverston on both.
GENERAL This house built in the 1830s ‘two stories high with basement story containing a
parlour, drawing room and four bed chambers, kitchen and servant's rooms, stabling for four horses,
garden, plantations and pleasure grounds.’ Brassington 1832. The property was leased by Thomas
Mackey Scully from 1832 to 1848 and was for sale on 10 acres in 1846. It had five bedrooms,
servant's apartments, a coach house and stabling for six horses. It had an avenue approach and a
gatelodge. By 1882 it was again for Sale/Let on 5 acres.
YEAR BUILT circa 1830
VALUATION In 1865 the valuation was 72 pounds and in the 1901 census it is noted as
having 13 rooms occupied by family.
