Hollywood House
NAME Hollypark/Hollywood House
AREA LOCATION Mount Anville Road close to the Goatstown junction.
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Roebuck.
GENERAL Large Victorian three bay, two storey over basement house. It has
a rendered façade of smooth plaster with projecting quoins and a corniced parapet. It
has a slated and hipped roof. Entrance by way of a short flight of granite steps to a split
door topped by a large fanlight with glazed panels on either side. Period features include
two Adams marble fireplaces and ornate cornices. It was for sale in 1858 on 18 acres
with a number of small houses and cottages on a detached part of the grounds. In 1961
Count Cyril McCormack put the house on 4.5 acres up for dale. It had a gatelodge and
the main house was approached by a long carriage drive. The house is a protected
structure. It was vandalised and fell into serious disrepair, suffering a fire, and water
damage some time after 1999. Since then it has been fully renovated.

Arthur de Burgh Crofton leased to Thomas Dillon. Then estate of Thomas Dillon leased to
Luke Connor who assigned his interest to Joseph McDermott who leased to Thomas Sherlock.

‘On this holding there is a dwelling house two stories high consisting of parlour, drawing room,
three chambers, basement story containing kitchen and servants apartments, stabling for five
horses, coach house etc.’ (Brassington, 1832).
