Maria Gray 2nd daughter of John Gray of Upton House, Leighlinbridge on 28.10.1846 at
Fenagh Church. William of Broomville died by his own hand on 31.08.1861 aged 44 years at
Douglas, Isle of Man. Letitia died on 27.03.1900 aged 71 years at 11 Herbert Road,
Sandymount. I nformant son Charles.
1 Captain Charles James John Butler only son born 24.10.1852 late 1st Batt Bedfordshire
Regiment married Elizabeth Frances Massy Bennett Testro widow of Daniel Testro and
daughter of late George Latham Bennett, Glenbally, Limerick at St Bartholomew’s Church,
Clyde Road on 06.03.1893. Charles died 06.02.1938 aged 87 years at 31 Pembroke Park.

2 Bessie Anne (Lily) Butler 2nd daughter born circa 1856 married Trevor Thomas Letham
Overend son of John Overend on 18.09.1879 at St Mary’s Church, Donnybrook. They lived
at Airfield, Dundrum. Edward was a witness at their wedding. Trevor died on 08.04.1919 at
26 Upper Pembroke Street late of Airfield. Elizabeth died on 21.01.1945 aged 89 years at
Airfield.
3 Helen Willamina Butler born circa 1866 died unmarried on 08.03.1947 aged 81 years at
15 Anglesea Road, Ballsbridge.
3 Harriet Katherine Butler born circa 1821 living with brother James in 1901 died unmarried on
22.04.1913 aged 93 years at 53 Lower Baggot Street.
4 Lieut Charles Richard Butler born circa 1823 of the 20th Regiment died 21.01.1860 aged 37

George Rous Keogh of Killide, Carlow on 02.08.1859 at the Parish Church of Brannagh, Carlow.

03.12.1911 aged 81 years at 2 Mount Harold Terrace.

Kiltennel Parish Church. Witness was Somerset Butler. Charles was High Sheriff of County
Carlow in 1920 and died 20.10.1932 aged 72 years and Ethel died on 01.04.1943 aged 77
years both at Mount Leinster.
2 Colonel James Henry Butler was born on 20.04.1863. He fought in the Bechuanaland
Expedition in 1885 and the Sudan Campaign between 1896 and 1899. He was Governor of
the White Nile Province, Sudan and Pasha in Egypt. James died unmarried on 07.12.1927
aged 64 years at the Bungalow, Newtownbarry, Enniscorthy. Informant sister Emily B Butler.

4 Emily Blanche Butler born circa 1865 Roscommon and died unmarried on 15.06.1951 aged
86 years at Lambola, Monkstown Avenue.
5 Somerset Edward Molyneux Butler MD born 13.08.1867 married Elise Jessie Bearcroft
daughter of Reginald Bearcroft on 07.01.1902 at St Michael’s, Chester Square. Somerset
died on 06.11.1914 aged 47 years of the Allens, Bishops Lydeard.
6 George Fitzwalter Butler born 04.08.1868 at Hill Street, Newry married Laura Jane Teer
daughter of Daniel Teer on 07.02.1899 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathmines. He
was in the Canadian Forces.
7 Mary Butler married John Molyneux Keogh son of John Henry Keogh of Killide, Tullow,
Carlow on 11.02.1903 at Zion Church, Rathfarnham. Mary died 20.06.1938 aged 76 at
Carrickduff, Newtownbarry, Carlow. John died on 31.03.1946 aged 72 years at
Altamount, Tullow.
6 Edward Holme Butler born circa 1834 of Pembroke Street a Colonel in the 8th Battalion Kings
Royal Rifles. Edward lived at Hollywood, Roebuck prior to his marriage to Mary Harriet Vigors
widow of Henry Vigors and daughter of John Campbell on 23.09.1885 at Christ Church, Kingstown.
Mary died 21.11.1885 aged 40 years at 22 Adelaide Street. Edward died on 28.08.1898 late of
Talmenai, Bangor Road, Carnarvon.
7 Richard Lewis Butler MD lived at Hollywood, Roebuck at the same time as his brother Edward.
Richard died on 11.11.1888 late of Morris Manitoba, Canada.
