NAME Fairy Hill
AREA Fairy Hill, Stillorgan Park off Newtownpark Avenue, now Fairy Hill Estate.
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1837- 1842 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Stillorgan
Park and it is annotated as Fairy Hill on both. It is also on Taylors map of
1816.
GENERAL A Georgian two storey over basement with three bays. A flight of 6 granite
steps led to the front door which had a granite surround with an oversailing plain fanlight. At
ground level it was surrounded by a balustrade. It had one storey extension to the right and
two high chimneys above front door. The site originally had two houses (Fairy Hill and
Merryville) and a shared gated lodge. In 1810 it was for sale or let on 6 acres with a 1/2 acre
with stabling for 4 horses, a dairy and a laundry. The house was vacant from 1879 to 1882.

VALUATION In 1921 the valuation was 115 pounds.

ROOMS Noted as having 22 rooms occupied by family in 1901.
ARCHITECT Unknown. Extended and altered and new wing added in 1882/3 for
Robert Goodbody. Contractor: I H Thorp of Leeds.
