NAME Rock Mount/Rockmount
AREA LOCATION Dundrum
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Dundrum
and it is annotated as Rock Mount and Rockmount respectively. Rockmount
also refers to an area that covers Rockville and Herbert Hill on what was
called the Dundrum Road.
GENERAL The house and 10 acres of meadow were put up for sale in 1793 as the owner
was departing for England. In 1844 it was being let on 4.5 acres. Rockmount Cottage is described as
the next gate way after Rockmount House in 1874. Lands of Rockville and Roadfield commonly called
Rockmount in 1851.

VALUATION In 1848 the valuation of Rockmount Cottage was 26L and Rockmount was 79L.
In 1911 Rockmount House had 17 rooms.
