NAME Roebuck Cottage/Ardilea
AREA LOCATION Ardilea Lawns, Roebuck Clonskeagh.
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838-1845 and 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Roebuck and it is
annotated as Rosebuck Cottage and Ardilea respectively. Frequently referred to as
Mount Anville.
GENERAL A five bay Georgian style house. When is burned down in 1959 it was described as
being a 14 room mansion. The house was completely destroyed and the family were
lucky to escape. They were woken by the door bell ringing which had short circuited
with the fire. All that survives is the gatelodge and beautiful stone cut gated entrance
on Mount Anville Road.
YEAR BUILT circa 1819
VALUATION In 1900 the valuation was 139 pounds and in the 1901 census it is noted
as having 27 rooms occupied by family.
