​​The lands of Roebuck and Clonskea owned by Baron Trimleston extended from Donnybrook to Milltown to Kilmacud and from Churchtown to the sea.  Most of the lands were leased to James Towers.  In 1780 Thomas Barnewall the 13th Baron was in possession, after the Will of Robert the 12th Baron was disputed.  He employed Thomas Sherrard to complete a survey of the estate and by 1783 Thomas set about leasing the lands (which were mainly in pasture and meadows) in plots for building. The area of Roebuck (986 acres), owned by Lord Trimbleston is bounded by Donnybrook, Mount Merrion, Booterstown, Dundrum, Windy Arbour, Milltown south of the River Dodder.  In 1810 Lady Trimleston, wife of Nicholas Barnewall, the 14th Baron came to Ireland with a power of attorney to sell the Roebuck estate and Surgeon Solomon Richards purchased 667 acres for 30,000 pounds.  John Thomas Barnewall the 15th Baron tried to recover possession after the 15th Baron's Will was also disputed but by 1843 the cases had been settled and the lands and title were in the hands of the purchasers.
