NAME Brooklawn/Brook Lawn
AREA LOCATION Brooklawn, a small cul-de-sac off Mount Merrion avenue.
MAP LOCATION OSI maps of 1838 - 1845 and 1898 - 1913 place it in the townland of
Blackrock and it is annotated as Brooklawn on both.
GENERAL Brooklawn, a back to back house with Brookfield. It was built on a 2.5 acre
semicircular plot with a gatelodge and a sweeping avenue to each house front. Mount Merrion
Avenue and Cross Avenue were built in 1762 and the first terrace houses called Pembroke Terrace
were built on Mount Merrion Avenue circa 1800 followed by Peafield Terrace.
YEAR BUILT circa 1821
VALUATION In 1878 the valuation was 70 pounds and in the 1901 census it is noted as
having 12 rooms occupied by family.
