New Park Lodge
NAME New Park Lodge
AREA LOCATION Stillorgan Road (N11) opposite Knocksinna.
MAP LOCATION OSI map of 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Newpark.
GENERAL A two-storey six bedroom period house with gate lodge, gardeners
cottage, garages and greenhouses. It was the post house Dublin to Bray. In 1922, the
gatelodge was the scene of a raid by National troops, two irregulars were shot dead
(Rodney Murphy & Leo Murray) and another injured. It was for sale in 1955 on ten acres.
The house has been much extended and most of the original architectural features
including windows, ceilings and fire places have been replaced/refurbished to mock older
period houses.
