Edward Charles Fyshe Hornsby born circa 1815 was the son of Rev Thomas Hornsby of
Christ Church College, Oxford - vicar of Ravensthorpe, Northamptonshire and his wife
Anna Fyshe Palmer. Edward married Mary Jane Cash on 17.08.1840 at Monkstown
Church. Anna was the 2nd daughter of John Cash of Tivoli Terrace, Kingstown. Edward
was secretary to the Shannon Commission Office, Customs Office from 1839 to
1848. He was appointed Secretary of the Board of Works, Department of Fisheries in
1849 and retired in 1883. They were regular visitor to the castle for levees and balls.
They lived at various houses in Dublin, including Simmonscourt and Shamrock Hill in
Donnybrook and Rosemount in Roebuck. They were at Beverston from 1865 to 1870.
In 1871 Edward came to the publics attention when he signed a proclamation at the
request of the Lord Lieutenant banning a Monster Meeting in the Phoenix Park during
a Royal visit. The meeting was a protest against the detention of Irish political
prisoners in English jails. The meeting went ahead, police were ordered to clear the
crowd and many people were injured. Questions were asked in parliament as to the
legality of the ban as the park was a public park and Edward came under the spotlight.
Edward died 01.02.1888 at 47 Wellington Road and left 2K in personal estate. Mary
Jane died 27.12.1898 at 47 Wellington Road and was buried at Mount Jerome. Their
son Alan was their executor.

infant later that month.
2 Alan Wade Hornsby 15.10.1844 at Rosemount. Alan was Secretary to the
Fisheries Department in Dublin from 1869, He married Elizabeth Wisdom of
KIlternan daughter of William Wisdom on 20.05.1873 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin.
Elizabeth died on 16.04.1896 aged 43 years at 15 Clarendon Street, Dublin and
Alan died at 7 Wellington Square, Chelsea on 08.04.1921 aged 77 years.
1 Daughter Hornsby born 16.10.1875 at Wilton, Leeson Park and died
01.11.1875 aged 15 days at same place.
2 Edward Charles Fyshe Hornsby born 30.10.1876 at Wilton, Leeson Park
married Florence Beatrice Anna Mansfield daughter of Captain William
George Mansfield on 26.06.1897 at the Parish Church of Holy Trinity, Grays
Inn Road, London.

Edward Charles Fyshe Hornsby born circa 1815 was the son of Rev Thomas Hornsby of
