Richard Murphy married Matilda Lowe on 18 Sep 1836 at Loughhilly. He was a farmer of Castletown
Cooley, Co Louth and was dead by 1874.

2 Mary Murphy born circa 1839 in Armagh was a spinster living with her brother in Sandycove
in 1911.
3 Frances Murphy baptised 15 Nov 1840 Loughilly, Whitecross, Co Armagh.
4 Patrick James Murphy born circa 1848 in Armagh. He was a partner in Young, King & Co in
Belfast and a founder of the Dublin Whiskey Distillery Company. Patrick died a bachelor at
Cove House, Sandycove on 14 Jun 1933 and was buried at Glasnevin. He left 38K in
personal estate. His shares in Dublin Corporation were left to his sister Matilda and Maria
and to numerous charities.
5 Charles O’Brien Murphy sixth son baptised 19 Jan 1851 at Loughilly, Whitecross, Co Armagh
attended Queens College, Belfast and graduated in 1886. He was called to the bar in 1890
and worked as a barrister and journalist. He married Mary A Johnston on 8 Sep 1874 at
Stewartstown. Mary was the daughter of Henry Johnston, a merchant. Charles was a
widower living at Rathgar in 1911. He was admonished by the RDS in 1924 for using their
headed paper to correspond with the Daily Mail. His retort followed by ‘do your best’ seems
to have brought matters to a close. He chaired debates in Trinity in the 1930's and they lived
at Dalriada from 1934 to 1941. Charles died 17 Mar 1941 at Dalriada, Avoca Avenue and was
buried at Deansgrange. He was described in the death notice as the devoted husband of
Beatrice (Queenie) of Dalriada.

2 Charles O’Brien Murphy born 9 Feb 1877 at Belfast and was educated at Belvedere
and at FX College in New York in 1893/4. He became an American citizen in 1898.
He worked at the Stock Exchange and moved to San Francisco in 1906 just before
the earthquake. He married Marie Hildegarde Jansen on 28 Apr 1906, and they had
three children; Marie Elene, Charles O’Brien & Warren Xavier. In 1918 he was
appointed VP and GM of the Central Indiana Power Company. He died in 1934 and
was posthumously mentioned in a divorce case.
6 Matilda Lowe Murphy baptised 24 Jul 1853 at Loughilly, Whitecross, Co Armagh. She was
living with her brother Patrick at Sandycove in 1911. She died a spinster on 9 Apr 1939
at Sandycove and was buried at Glasnevin.
7 Maria Catherine Murphy baptised 29 Oct 1854 at Loughilly, Whitecross, Co Armagh.
She died a spinster in Sandycove on 9 Mar 1934 and was buried at Glasnevin.
