Patrick Flynn born circa 1831 in County Dublin, son of John Flynn of Kingstown. Patrick
Flynn married Margaret Duran on 27 Nov 1852 at Booterstown Church. Margaret died in
1858 aged 28 and was buried at Glasnevin.
1 Mary Josephine born 21 Mar 1855 at Sydney Terrace, Blackrock.
2 Margaret Flynn born 10 Feb 1857 at Sydney Terrace, Blackrock.
He was a gardener living at Avoca Avenue, Black Rock and secondly married Rosanna
Keenan on 17 Apr 1860 at St Paul’s Arran Quay. Rosanna was the daughter of James
Keenan of 76 Grange Lane. Patrick worked for Lancelot Watson at Sydney Avenue from
1857 to 1862 and at when the Watson family moved to Newstead, he continued to work
for them as a gardener until Lancelot died in 1897. He won numerous prizes from the
RHS for a variety of plants, in particular his exotic ferns. Patrick died at 2 Sydney Place,
Blackrock on 27 Feb 1903 and was buried at Glasnevin. Rosanna died 14 Oct 1910 aged
66 at Marlboro Road, the home of her daughter Teresa and was buried with her husband.
3 Patrick Joseph Flynn born 28 Mar 1862 at Avoca Avenue, Blackrock. He was a
plumber and married Kate Reilly 29 Sep 1891 at Blackrock Church. Kate was the
daughter of James Reilly, a coachman of Carroll’s Cottages, George's Avenue,
Blackrock. After their marriage they lived at 5 Sydney Terrace. In 1911 eight of
their nine children survived. Patrick died 17 Jun 1948 at 42 Sweetman’s Avenue,
Blackrock and Catherine died same place on 30 Aug 1953. Both are buried at
Deansgrange.
1 James Flynn born 11 Feb 1892 at 5 Sydney Terrace. He was a plumber and
married Mary Butler at St Michael’s Church Kingstown on 29 Aug 1915.
Mary was the daughter of the late John Butler, a sailor.
2 Rosanna Florence Flynn born 23 Jul 1894 at 5 Sydney Terrace baptised at
Blackrock. She married Michael Short on 6 Feb 1916 at Booterstown Church,
Michael was a tram man and the son of Peter Short, a gardener.
3 Catherine Agnes (Agnes) Flynn born 12 Jun 1896 at 5 Sydney Terrace baptised
at Blackrock.
4 Jane Flynn born 20 Jan 1899 at 5 Sydney Terrace.
5 Isabella Flynn born 11 April 1901 at 5 Sydney Terrace.

23 Feb 1892 at Booterstown Church. John was a clerk living at Cullenswood and the
son of Denis Burke, a van driver. Catherine, her husband and their two children were
visiting her parents in 1901. They were living at Main Street Blackrock in 1911 with
their five children.
1 Denis Reginald Burke born circa 1893 in Co Dublin. He was a commercial
traveller living at Rock Road and married Anastasia Tubbert at Booterstown
Church on 12 Aug 1919. Anastasia was the daughter of John Tubbert, gardener
at The Priory, Stillorgan.

3 John Burke born 1 Oct 1900 at 2 Sydney Place.

Elizabeth Hynes. The lived at Rock Road in 1911 and they were in Grove Avenue by
1929. James died 27 Sep 1932 at Dalriada, Grove Avenue and was buried at
Deansgrange. Mary died ages 59 at Georges Avenue, Blackrock on 20 Jun 1939 and
was buried with her husband.

7 Michael Flynn born circa 1908. He never married and lived at Brusna Cottages,
Blackrock.
8 Alfred Dominic Flynn born 7 Sep 1910 at 13 Rock Road. He was a bus conductor
and died unmarried at 3 Grove Avenue in 1929.

buried at Glasnevin.
7 Daniel Flynn born 16 Mar 1870 at Sydney Place. He was a gardener working at
Newtownpark and married Mary Pender on 12 May 1895 at Booterstown Church.
Mary was the daughter of Peter Pender, a labourer from Temple Hill. By 1901 they
had four children and were living in Mount Merrion and Daniel was working on the
Pembroke estate. In 1903 they were living at Carrickmines.

8 Elizabeth Flynn born 7 Jan 1872 at Sydney Place was a dressmaker living with her
parents in Sydney Avenue in 1901.
9 Michael Flynn born 22 Oct 1873 at 2 Sydney Place. He was a labourer/blacksmith
and married Catherine Hayes at Booterstown Church on 1 Mar 1892. Catherine
was the daughter of Christopher Hayes, a labourer and lived at Foley’s Court,
Blackrock. They lived at Brookfield buildings in 1911 and all six of their children
had survived. Michael enlisted at Preston and was with the Loyal North Lancashire
Regiment. He was killed in Action on 12 Nov 1914. He is remembered on Ypres
(Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium.

a gardener working at Bloomfield in Merrion and married Mary Alice O’Connor on
19 Jul 1896 at St Kevin’s Church. Mary was the daughter of the late Andrew O’Connor,
a labourer and his wife Elizabeth. Mary was living at 3 Ryan’s Buildings off
Charlemont Street. They were living in Seaport Parade in 1901. By 1911, the family
were living at Emmet Square, Blackrock and six of their nine children has survived.
John died 12 Dec 1953 and Mary died 23 Mar 1955 at 9 Rock Road, Blackrock both
are buried at Deansgrange.

6 Dec 1910 at Emmet Square and was buried at Deansgrange.

12 Joseph Flynn born 25 Nov 1878 at Sydney Place was a gardener living with
his parents in 1901. He was working at Ashfield Rathfarnham and married
Catherine Walsh on 29 Jul 1914 at Donnybrook Church. Catherine was living at
Marlborough Road, Donnybrook and was the daughter of Peter Walsh a gardener.
His nephew Denis was one of the witnesses.
13 Teresa Flynn born 6 Jun 1881 at 2 Sydney Place baptised at Blackrock. She was a
dressmaker living with her parents in 1901. She married Michael Toner at
Donnybrook Church on 16 Nov 1910. Michael was a gardener of 16 Marlboro Road
and the son of Patrick Toner, a gardener.
14 Harriett Flynn born 13 Sep 1883 at Sydney Place living with her parents in 1901.
She was a dressmaker and died 5 Apr 1908 at 13 Sandford Avenue. Her sister
Teresa the informant and she was buried at Deansgrange.
15 Josephine Mary Flynn born 16 May 1885 at 2 Sydney Place living with her parents in
1901. Josephine died 30 Nov 1903 at 2 Sydney Place and was buried at Deansgrange.
Her brother in law William Kavanagh the informant. She was buried at Deansgrange.
