Matthew Kilkenny joined the Roscommon Militia in 1856. He was later a shoemaker and
married Annie Dillon. Annie was a midwife and died 5 May 1894. Matthew was widower
living with his daughter at The Green (Church Street) Boyle Co Roscommon in 1901 and 1911
and was a Connaught Rangers pensioner. He died 21 Mar 1916 at Boyle; his daughter Mary
the informant.

3 Annie Kilkenny born 24 Jun 1872 at Boyle, Co Roscommon informant of her
mother’s death. She married Michael Brady on 23 Apr 1895 at Boyle Parish Church.
Michael was a constable and the son of Bernard Brady, a farmer.
4 Mary Kilkenny born circa 1873 in Co Roscommon living with her widowed father in
1901 and 1911. She was a dressmaker and died unmarried on 5 Jan 1940 at
Stillorgan. Her brother James the informant.
5 James Kilkenny born 13 Jan 1876 at Boyle, Co Roscommon. He was a shop assistant
living at the Curragh Camp and married Teresa Daly on 8 Aug 1901 at the Curragh
Camp Chapel, Naas. Teresa was a shop assistant and the daughter of Owen Daly, a
shop keeper. The lived at The Green/Church Street, Boyle Co Roscommon. James
was a railway porter in 1911, a private in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1915 and an
army pensioner in 1921. James lived at Leopardstown Cross and was gatekeeper
for the front level crossing in Stillorgan from 1940 to 1946. He died 17 Jan 1946 at St
Columcille’s Hospital. Teresa died at 4 Oct 1953 at St Brigid’s Park, Foxrock. Both
are buried at Deansgrange.

He was a hotel porter and died at Fitzwilliam Place in 1964. James and
Kathleen are buried at Deansgrange.
1 James Kilkenny died in 1943 at Fitzwilliam Place and was buried at
Deansgrange aged 12.
3 Annie Josephine Kilkenny born 29 Jun 1908 at Boyle, Co Roscommon. She
was living at Fortfield Grove and married Thomas O’Donnell on 18 Nov 1940
at Terenure Church. Thomas was a soldier living in Blackrock and the son of
Thomas O’Donnell, a gardener.
4 John Kilkenny born 12 Aug 1910 at Boyle Co Roscommon. He was a mechanic
living at the Railway Crossing Foxrock and married Margaret Brophy on
7 Mar 1942 at Foxrock Church. Margaret was a domestic servant living at
Brennanstown Road and the daughter of Michael Brophy a farm worker. They
lived at St Brigid’s Park in Foxrock.
5 Owen Dillon Kilkenny born 26 Mar 1912 at Boyle, Co Roscommon. He was a
motor driver living at 3 Galloping Green and married Kathleen Frances Rigney
at Donnybrook Church on 15 Aug 1946. Kathleen was living at 62 Pembroke
Cottages, Donnybrook and was the daughter of Patrick Rigney, a gardener.
They lived on the North Circular Road.
1 Stillborn baby Kilkenny buried at Deansgrange in 1949.
6 Matthew Francis Kilkenny born 13 Nov 1915 at Boyle, Co Roscommon. He was
a railway worker living at the Railway Crossing Stillorgan and married Kathleen
Gorman at St Peter’s Church Bray on 23 Nov 1941. Kathleen was living at
Abbey View and was the daughter of John Gorman a retired gardener.
7 Osmond Patrick Kilkenny born 15 Mar 1921 at Boyle, Co Roscommon. Osmond
was a civil servant living at Leopardstown Cross Stillorgan and married Anna
Pauline Keogh on 8 Jul 1946 at Kilmacud Church. Anna was the daughter of
James Keogh of Kilmacud Road. They were later grocers of 3 Kilmacud Road.
Ossie was involved in a bad traffic accident with his brother John and sustained
head and chest injuries in 1952. They later lived in Dundrum and are buried at
Deansgrange.
