William Gregory son of William Gregory, a butcher and his wife Ann Kinsella from Ballycanew born
5 Apr 1868 at Monomolin, Gorey. He was living with his widowed mother in Rathfarnham in 1901
together with his sister Mary and his brother John. He married Isabella McDowell on 5 Aug 1901
at SS Philip and James, Booterstown. William was a butcher in 1901. Isabella was the daughter of
Marshall McDowell, a builder and was living at 114 Rock Road, Booterstown at the time of her
marriage. Williams mother died in 1902 at Rathfarnham and his brother James took over the butchers
in Rathfarnham. His sister Elizabeth was married to Christopher Jolley of Rathfarnham. William put
the butchers shop in Stillorgan up for sale in 1905 and was a dairy proprietor by 1910. Isabella died
28 Jul 1921 and was buried at Rathfarnham.
1 Albert Edward Gregory born 28 Aug 1902 at Dublin Road, Stillorgan, baptised at St Brigids
married Sara Jane Glynn, daughter of John James Glynn, a gardener at St Brigid’s Church
on 9 Sep 1935.
2 William Gregory born 29 Dec 1903 at Stillorgan, baptised at St Brigid’s. William a civil servant
living at Mount Merrion married Elizabeth May Burns at Bray Parish Church on 22 Nov 1933.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Martin Burns a compositor and was living at 3 Belton Terrace,
Bray, Co Wicklow.
3 Evelyn Frances Gregory born 18 Nov 1906, baptised at St Brigid’s. She was living at 46 Sycamore
Road, Mount Merrion when she married Samuel Campbell, a dairyman of Nutgrove,
Rathfarmham on 15 Jul 1941.
