Walter Bourne, Clerk of the Crown of the Court of the Queen's Bench for 53 years lived at
Harcourt street and his county seat was Owenstown House and then Taney House. Walter
married Eliza Peter and had a son Peter and two daughters. Walter secondly married
Elinor Carmichael, second daughter of Andrew and Jane Carmichael on 1 Jan 1792 at
St Bride’s Church, Dublin. Ellen died 7 Nov 1838 and was interred at Vicar's Bawn. Walter
died 18 Nov 1848 at Taney House and was buried at the Vicar’s Bawn (St Patrick’s Cathedral
graveyard). Both were reinterred in Mount Jerome. Peter Bourne, son from Walter’s first
marriage died 7 Oct 1844 at York Street and was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Jane Bourne circa 1794 married Dr Richard Carmichael son of Hugh Carmichael and
Sarah Rogers of Balgoon, Co Meath in 1812. They lived at Sutton and Roger
drowned trying to cross from Clontarf to Sutton on the evening of 8 Jun 1849 and was
was buried at St George's Churchyard, Whitworth Road. He left money to endow
the Carmichael School of Medicine to which Jane added additional funds and the
school was opened in 1864. Jane died 21 Nov 1864. No issue found.
2 Walter Bourne, eldest son born 1795 in Dublin Clerk of the Crown for Antrim and
Carrickfergus for 48 years retiring in 1880. He was of Redesdale when he married
Louisa Arabella Minchin, daughter of Humphrey Minchin and Catherine Frances
Sirr of Roebuck Lodge at Taney Church on 6 Aug 1821. Walter died on 19 Nov 1881
aged 87 at Taney House and Louisa died 2 Jan 1882 aged 82 at 43 Harrington Street.

3 Sep 1822 12 days old.
2 Richard Bourne born circa 1823 graduated Royal College of Surgeons and was
assistant surgeon with the 3rd Dragoons. He died unmarried in 1871 at
Nottingham aged 48.
3 Humphrey Minchin Bourne born 1824 a barrister was secretary of the Dublin
and Belfast Junction Railway before becoming secretary of the Ulster line. He
lived at Ballycoras House. He died unmarried on 31 Aug 1908 at South
Shoebury, Essex aged 83.
4 Eleanor Elizabeth Bourne born at Taney House on 26 Jan 1827 baptised at
Taney married Anthony Beaufort Brabazon at St Peter’s Church on 4 Sep 1849.
5 Walter Bourne born 24 Aug 1828 at Harcourt Street graduated Carmichael
School of medicine in 1850. He married Geraldine Caroline Fitzgerald only
daughter of Sir John Fitzgerald of Tipperary and moved to England. Walter
died in 1897 aged 68 at Cheltenham leaving issue.
6 Andrew Minchin Bourne, fourth son born Sweetmount on 17 Sep 1829
baptised 15 Aug 1830 at Taney married Elizabeth Clarke, daughter of Arthur
Clarke at St Peter’s Church, Notting Hill 15 Oct 1863. No issue found.
7 Frances Catherine Bourne, born circa 1832 second daughter married Henry
Samuel Halahan, MD of 29 Harcourt Street and son of George Augustus
Frederick Halahan at St Peter’s Church on 8 Dec 1863.
8 William Henry Bourne born circa 1833 graduated Trinity.
9 Louisa Bourne born 16 Apr 1835 at Whitehall, Rathfarnham.
10 John Bourne 29 Oct 1836 at Kilgobbin baptised at Taney Church.
11 Charles Henry Bourne born 14 Feb 1839 at Taney House married Jeannie
Emma Beare, daughter of the late Henry E Beare at St George’s Church on
2 Aug 1865. He survived a shot to the neck during the Fenian rebellion of
5 Mar 1867, he was manager of the Union Bank in Tallaght and living at Gurtboy
House. He afterwards worked for the South Dublin Union as a rate collector.
1 Infant son Bourne died November 1867.
2 Walter Bourne died in May 1870 aged three weeks.
12 Julia Adelaide Bourne, youngest daughter born at Kilgobbin 16 Nov 1840
baptised at Taney married Mark Anthony Toomey 30 Nov 1868 at St Peters.
Mark died 21 Mar 1916 and Julia died 9 Apr 1932 aged 91, both are buried at
Taney graveyard leaving issue.
3 Ellen Bourne born circa 1796 died 16 Jul 1876 unmarried at 1 Grosvenor Terrace,
Monkstown.
4 Thomas Daniel Bourne born circa 1799 died unmarried on 31 Jan 1877 at Mount
View, Glenageary.
5 William Bourne circa 1800 took Holy orders and married Elizabeth Frizell on
22 May 1833. The Rev William Bourne, Rector of Rathcormac, Cork died without
issue 6 Apr 1851.
6 Andrew Bourne born circa 1801, a barrister married Charlotte Bolton, daughter of
Lindon Bolton and Jane Carpenter of Monkstown Castle at Edenderry, Queens County
on 17 Dec 1829. The couple moved to Paris, no issue found.
7 Marianne Bourne born circa 1801 died unmarried at 1 Grosvenor terrace on
20 Apr 1878.
8 Anna Maria Bourne born circa 1806 married Rev Lyndon Henry Bolton son of Lindon
Bolton and Jane Carpenter of Monkstown Castle 26 Jan 1826 at St Peter’s Church,
Dublin.
9 Frances (Fanny) Margaret Bourne born circa 1807 married Bridges John Hooke of the
34th Regt of Infantry at Taney Church on 5 Jul 1827. Bridges attained the rank of
Captain. Fanny died a widow aged 88 on 14 Nov 1895 at 62 Wellington Road, Dublin.
1 Walter Bolton Hooke born circa 1832 died at Taney House on 28 Nov 1847
aged 14.
2 Harriette Kendal Hooke married a Joseph S Bell in January 1862 at St Mary’s
Church and was the informant of her mother’s death.
10 Eliza Bourne born circa 1808 married Thomas Belton of North Frederick Street on
26 April 1828 at St Peter's Church, Dublin.
11 Richard Thomas Bourne, born circa 1814, Barrister at Law married Mary Sophia
Linde, eldest daughter of John Hill Linde and Charlotte Jebb of Drummartin House
at Taney on 24 Feb 1846. Mary Sophia was the granddaughter of the late Sir Henry
Jebb. Richard died at Mount View, Glenageary on 27 Dec 1890. No issue found.
12 Emily Bourne born circa 1811 married Keith Claringbold Hamilton Hallowes, a
solicitor at Taney Church on 23 Aug 1831. Emily a widow died at the home of her
son the Rev Richard Hallowes at The Rectory, Ballyraine, Arklow on17 Apr 1899.
