Humphrey Charles Minchin born circa 1750. He was linen merchant and guild member
resident at 100 Bride Street when he married Catherine Frances Sirr of Bride Street on
10 Jan 1785. Catherine was the sister of Town Major Henry Charles Sirr. Humphry had a
warehouse at Parliament Street and quit the linen business in 1793. He was a JP and High
Sheriff for Dublin by 1795 living at Baggot Street and in Merrion Square by 1797. He was
member of the RDS from 1786 and was churchwarden of St Anne’s church in Dawson
Street. He was a sheriff peer by 1803 and resident at Grafton Street until 1806. Catherine
died in October 1810.
1 Joseph Francis Minchin born 29 Oct 1780 educated at Black Rock married Louisa Hall
on 14 May 1804 (ML). Louisa was the daughter of Town Major William Hall. Joseph
was an attorney of 62 Grafton Street and later 8 Fitzwilliam Square. By 1833 they
were living at Stephen’s Green. Joseph died at Stephen's Green on 16 May 1836.

2 Charles Henry Minchin third son born 28 Oct 1786 educated at George Moland’s
school was admitted Kings Inns. He was an apprentice to his brother Joseph. He took
Holy orders and married Prudencia Kinahan, daughter of Daniel Kinahan of Roebuck
Park on 10 Jun 1814 at Taney Church. He was appointed to the vicarage of Clashmore,
Lismore Waterford in 1821.
3 Frances Minchin married Major Kingsmill Pennefather.
4 Elizabeth Francis Minchin married Townsend Monckton Hall in Dublin in February
1797. Townsend was a captain in the 28th Regiment of Foot and assistant quarter
master general.
5 Emma Minchin married James Walcot Fitzgerald in February 1801.
6 Son born January 1797 at Merrion Square.
7 Louisa Arabella Minchin married Walter Bourne at Taney Church on 6 Aug 1821.
Humphrey secondly married Arabella Ashworth in 1812 in Dublin. He was resident at
Fitzwilliam Street in 1814, Leeson Street in 1816 and William Street in 1820. He was a
governor of The Charitable Musical Society. They lived at Roebuck Lodge from 1816 to
1827 and spent 3K on improvements. Humphrey was a church warden at Taney and
moved to 5 Erne Street in 1828. Humphry died 16 Jun 1830 at Erne Street and was buried
at St Werburgh’s. Arabella died at Aungier Street in July 1833.
