John Reilly born circa 1861 in County Kildare, son of John Reilly. John was living at Hillsboro,
Monkstown Road when he married Mary Lyons daughter of James Lyons, a farmer in 1883
at the RC Chapel in Monkstown. John worked at Thornhill and later worked as a groom. In
1901* he was a coachman and by 1911 he was a motor driver. Mary is listed as a purveyor
in 1901 and they had a small store in the village at no 10 Dublin Road. John died on
17 Dec 1952 and his funeral mass was held at Kilmacud Church. He was buried at Celbridge,
Co Kildare.
1 Marion O’Reilly born circa 1885 at Mount Merrion married Richard Eyre on 18 Aug 1915 at
Kilmacud Church. Richard, a widower of Queen's Terrace, Dublin was the son of Roland
Eyre. Richard was a clerk, commercial traveller and by 1918 was a soldier.

2 John Joseph Reilly born 18.03.1886 at Mount Merrion Cottages. John was a dairyman in 1911,
and best man for his brother James in 1918.
3 James Reilly born 24.04.1887 at Mount Merrion Cottages. James was a motor mechanic in
1911 and was driving the County Wexford ambulance in 1916. He became a motor instructor
and married Teresa O'Toole on 24 Apr 1918. James was resident at Dublin Road, Stillorgan and
Teresa was the daughter of Charles O'Toole, a tinsmith.
1 Cathal Pearse O'Reilly born 20 Jan 1919 at O'Connell Avenue, Dublin.
4 Michael William Reilly born 11.12.1889 at Thornhill, Kilmacud attended national school in
Stillorgan and the CBS in Dun Laoghaire. He was an Insurance agent when he married
Catherine Cooney of 6 Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock daughter of Edward Cooney, a merchant on
25.01.1911 at Blackrock Chapel. They lived in Dalkey after their marriage. M W joined the IRB in
1911 and the Irish Volunteers in 1913. He did not take part in the Civil War and by 1930 he was
managing director of New Ireland Life Assurance, chairman of Solus Teo and Benbulben Barite
Mines and a director of Clondalkin Paper Mills. Michael died in 1971.
1 Beatrice Moira Concepta O’Reilly born 3 Dec 1911 at 1 Maryville, Dalkey married Frank
Mooney and moved to Somerset. She died 23 May 1963 at Banwell and was buried at St
Andrew's vaults, Westland Row.
2 Liam O’Reilly born 26 Mar 1913 at Holles Street.
3 Brian Edward O’Reilly, second son born 22 May 1914 at Addison Road, Fairview was an
insurance official when he married Marie Wallen, eldest daughter of Francis A Wallen of
Nobber, Charleston Road, Rathmines at Holy Cross Church Dundrum on 23 Aug 1939.
4 Catherine Rosaleen O’Reilly born 29 Oct 1915 at Ballybough married Eoin Nolan, son of
Professor J J Nolan of Ros-na-Greine, Avoca Avenue on 31 Jan 1942 at Holy Cross Church,
Dundrum. Eoin was a medical practitioner working at the Hibernian School, Phoenix Park
and Rosaleen was a designer.

6 Shameus O'Reilly born 27 Jan 1920 at 37 Goldsmith Street, Phibsborough.
*Niece Josephine O’Reilly aged 10 years living with the family in 1911.
