Robert Northridge born 7 Feb 1872 at Cork, the son of John Northridge & Mary Young. He
graduated MA Trinity College and took Holy orders. He was appointed to a number of
curacies including St Mary's, Belfast before he received an appointment as civil chaplain to
his Majesty’s South African Field Forces in 1902. He returned in 1905 and was appoint
further curacies including Baggotrath and Zion, Rathgar before he was instituted to the
Incumbency or St Andrew's Parish in 1912. He married Frances Charlotte Elleker Hamilton
on 6 Nov 1907 at Zion Church, Rathgar. Frances was the only daughter of Richard E
Hamilton* (late Accountant General, Burma, Rangoon) of 35 Ailesbury Road, Dublin and
his wife Frances Alicia Harriette Hamilton. They moved to Chesterfield, Cross Avenue in
1923. Robert acted as executor for a number of people including Maria Georgina Duckett
whose Will was contested in 1939. Richard died 26 Jun 1942 at Chesterfield and was buried
at Mount Jerome. Frances moved to Hawthorn after his death and died in Sussex on
14 Apr 1962, the home of her daughter Barbara. Her remains were repatriated and she
was buried with her husband at Mount Jerome.
1 Richard Ian Hamilton Northridge born circa Sept 1908 a Civil Engineer of Chesterfield, Blackrock
married Charlotte Elizabeth Grant Johnston daughter of William Henry Grant Johnston on
12.07.1935 at St Andrew’s Church. His father Robert performed the ceremony. Richard died
30.12.1993 aged 85 years.
2 Mary Winifred (Winnie) Northridge born 21.10.1909 of 36 Victoria Road married Captain Percy
Darrell Denman son of PD Denman of Queen’s Club Gardens, London at St Andrew’s Church,
Suffolk Street, Dublin on 10.12.1938. Winnie captained the Dublin University women's
hockey team for several seasons.
3 George Hamilton Northridge born 15.09.1911 of 36 Victoria Road a Divinity Student in Trinity College
died on 16.08.1935 following an accident in Ballsbridge.
4 Robert Lawrence (name changed to Robert Edward Hamilton) Northridge born 27.01.1913 of 25
Clyde Road, Flight Lieutenant RAF killed on active service on 07.11.1943 interred at Haverford
West, Wales. Memorial at St Columba's College.
5 John Lawrence Northridge of 26 Clyde Road born 27.04.1914.
6 Rev Herbert Aubrey Hamilton Northridge MA, 5th son born 22.06.1916 at Clyde Road. Residence at
Hawthorn, Blackrock married Moyra Jean Moore elder daughter of F J Moore of Virginia, Dundrum
on 30.06.1943 at Christ Church, Dundrum.
7 Frances Charlotte Rosalind Northridge born circa 1917 married Aubrey Howard Leslie Archer son of
Thomas Archer of Hermitage on 24.10.1938 at St Andrew’s Church, Dublin. Aubrey died 30.12.1994.
8 Elizabeth Eleanor Honor Northridge, third daughter born 16 Sep 1920 at 25 Clyde Road married Rev
Gilbert Albert Lowe at St Andrew's Church, Suffolk Street on 14 May 1940. Gilbert lived at Avoca
Terrace and was the incumbent of St Brigid's Church, Stillorgan. He was the son of John Fitzgerald
Lowe, civil servant of Drumcondra and Kitty Florence Gilbert.
9 Alan Douglas Hamilton Northridge was Archdeacon in Cyprus (Chaplain RSF Retired). He died
01.08.1980 at Oxford aged 53 years.
10 Barbara Northridge youngest daughter married Norman Nickalls circa 1947.

*Richard Erris Hamilton son of Edward Hamilton married Frances Alicia Harriette Hamilton
on 03.12.1881 at St George’s Church, Hoshangabad, Bengal. Richard died 1921 and Frances died 1922.
