Frederick Kennedy son of George Kennedy of Tullamore, solicitor (1760-1842). He had numerous
addresses including Windsor House, Fairview and Ballynaleigh, Co Down. He was insolvent on
multiple occasions between 1833 and 1848. There is a Frederick B Kennedy who married a Jane
Shance in Kildare in 1834 but this marriage has not been proven to be the correct one. Frederick
died from liver disease on 11 Sep 1857 and was buried in the parish of St Mark’s, Dublin. Jane
died at 86 Leeson Street, the home of her son George and is remembered on the family grave at
Mount Jerome.
1 George O’Brien Kennedy born circa 1837 in Kings County. He was a solicitor’s clerk and
was admitted Kings Inn by permission of his father in 1854. A solicitor of 24 York Street he
married Clara Abercrombie at Christchurch, Cheltenham on 22 Jul 1873. Clara was the
eldest daughter of John Abercrombie, MD of Suffolk Square, Cheltenham. George later
had offices at 42 Fleet Street and lived at Bloomfield, Merrion. He was found dead when
his train arrived at Dalkey Station on 2 Aug 1910. He left 14K in personal estate. Clara
died at ‘The Ark’, Foxrock on 14 Jun 1917 and left 2K in personal estate.
1 George Abercrombie O’Brien Kennedy born 24 Nov 1874 at 86 Lower Leeson Street
was a solicitor. He was married and lived at “The Ark”, Foxrock until at least 1916
and patented a mechanical buzzer for practicing Morse Code. George died
30 Sep 1963 at Rathgar and was buried at Mount Jerome.
2 Clara Jane (Sissie) Kennedy born 11 Feb 1877 at 86 Lower Leeson Street died a
spinster 23 Sep 1923 at Portobello House late of 3 Proby Square, BlackRock and
was buried at Mount Jerome.
3 Frederick Alexander Kennedy born 2 Jan 1879 at Lower Leeson Street was called to
the Bar in 1902. He married Ruby Alice Mullaly on 3 July 1911 at Ballyshannon, Co
Leitrim. Ruby was the daughter of George Leigh Mullaly of Glenada House,
Largydonnell, Co Leitrim.
4 Francis O Brien Kennedy born 12 May 1880 at 86 Lower Leeson Street was a medical
practitioner and married Gwendolen Mary Boyce at Norfolk on 23 Feb 1911. He
died 31 Dec 1960 in Linton, Cambridgeshire.
5 Louise Frances Kennedy born 6 Nov 1881 at 86 Lower Leeson Street. She was
resident at Bloomfield and married Robert Henry Cunningham Plews at St Mary’s
Donnybrook on 6 Sep 1911. Robert was a railway official and the son of Henry Plews
a railway manager, and a resident of Temora on the Stillorgan Road.
2 Frederick Kennedy second son born circa 1839 in Co Dublin was a land agent. He
was admitted Kings Inns in 1864 by affidavit signed by his brother George. He was a
solicitor and married Jeannette Rhoda Butler at St Kevin’s Church on 22 July 1867.
Jeanette was the daughter of the Rev Hans Butler, incumbent of Villierstown, Co
Waterford and his wife Mary Baker. Frederick was resident at 21 York Street. In
1868 they applied to have the estate of Jeannette’s grandmother (Jane) released. She
had applied to the trustees for consent to marry as per the terms but as she got no
response, she presumed she had consent. In 1870 Frederick had offices at 34 York
Street but by 1875 his premises were at 4 Lower Ormond Quay. Jeanette died
1 Jan 1879 at Adelaide Street, Kingstown aged 34 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
Although no land in Tipperary has been found registered to him, Frederick had 16
tenants in Cashel and in 1882 threatened to sell off their interest in the farms if they
didn’t settle with him.
1 Frederick Hans Kennedy eldest son born 16 Jun 1868 at 34 York Street involved
in Dublin City Distillery Company. He died a bachelor at Argyle Lodge, Longford
Terrace East, Dun Laoghaire on 15 Mar 1924. He was buried with his sister
Madeline at Deansgrange.
2 Mary Pauline Kennedy 6 Nov 1869 at 34 York Street, Dublin married James
Brown at St Stephen’s Church on 16 Jun 1888. James was a bank clerk and the
son of George Brown a commission agent. Mary was 18 and resident at 82
Merrion Square.
3 Jane Madeline Kennedy born 14 Aug 1871 at 1 Sydenham Terrace, Dundrum was
presented at Dublin Castle in 1905. She died a spinster on 17 Jun 1921 at Frescati
and was buried at Deansgrange.
4 George Hubert Butler Kennedy born 25 Nov 1872 at 1 Sydenham Terrace
baptised at St Stephen’s living with his parents in 1911 was a solicitor living at
Highfield Road Rathgar in 1930.
5 Jeanette Cara Kennedy third daughter born 23 Feb 1874 at 32 Merrion
Square died at Kildare Street on 9 Nov 1880 aged 7.
6 Douglas Kennedy born circa 1876 died 22 Sep 1883 and was buried at
Chapelizod.
Frederick Kennedy secondly married Monimia Ellen Morgan Byrne, daughter of James
Peter Byrne and Monimia Morgan of Brooklawn, Chapelizod on 18 Jan 1879 at Dublin’s
Registry Office just 17 days after the death of his first wife. Mina died 19 Sep 1889 at
Lismolin, Glenageary aged 34 and was buried at Chapelizod.
7 Monimia Violet Kennedy born circa 1879 in Dublin presented at Dublin Castle
in 1905. At school at Albert Road, Birkdale, Ormskirk in 1891 and living at
Frescati in 1911. She may have been with the Queen Alexandra's Medical
Nursing Service in India. (Need to check medal card in Kew). Possible death in
Cornwall 1 Jul 1955.
8 Tredegar James Kennedy born 11 Sep 1880 at Kildare Street a trooper with the
Imperial Yeomanry living at Frescati in 1901. He resigned his commission in 1902
and re-enlisted. He relinquished his commission as temporary captain with the
9th Battalion, Royal Munster Fusiliers in 1914. He married Helen Myrtle C
Thornton on 5 May 1922 at Bellingham, Whatcom, Washington. He was a soldier
and Helen was a widow and the daughter of Harold Stephens and Grace Cripps.

Frederick Kennedy, thirdly married Mary Louisa (Minnie) Irwin on 26 Mar 1896 at St
George’s Church of Ireland, Dublin. Mary was 33 years his junior and the daughter of
William Irwin solicitor. They had two children together before they married. In 1910
Frederick had to identify his brother George, also a solicitor who lived at Bloomfield,
Merrion Road and died on a train in Dalkey. Frederick died 1 Mar 1915 at Frescati,
Blackrock and was buried at Deansgrange. His estate proved to be insolvent and
various properties at Molesworth Street were sold to make good his bequests. Minnie
died at 13 Longford Terrace, Monkstown on 21 Apr 1949 and was buried with her
husband. The family lived at Frescati from 1898 to 1925.
10 Cecil Frederick Kennedy born 19 Mar 1893 attended Trinity Medical School and
qualified as a medical doctor. He received his commission in 1914. 2nd Lieut
Kennedy was wounded in the Dardanelles in August 1915. He relinquished his
commission in 1917 due to ill health.
11 Evelyn Florence Jane Kennedy born 14 Oct 1894 at Merton Sandymount Green
married George J Ball in 1926 at Godstone in Surrey. George was an ex major in
the Army and a Barrister. They lived ay Butlers Dene Road, Woodcot,
Woldingham in 1939.
12 Brian Cyril Kennedy born September 1897 died 7 Apr 1913 and was buried at
Deansgrange.
13 Arthur Bolton Kennedy born 6 Feb 1898 at Frescati enlisted with the Royal Irish
Fusiliers in 1915. He remained in the army and was in Abbassia Cairo, Egypt in
1921. He died a bachelor 6 Nov 1943 at Sir Patrick’s Dun’s Hospital late of
Longford Terrace, Monkstown and was buried at Deansgrange.
14 Dorothy Sophia Victoria Kennedy 11 Apr 1900 at Frescati married Harold William
and Emily Jane Hern of Barnes at St Mary’s, Barnes Surrey 6 Nov 1923. Harold
was the son of John Hill Hern.
15 Richard Frederick Kennedy born 11 Oct 1902 at Frescati died 22 Oct 1902 and was
buried at Deansgrange.
16 Desmond Patrick Edward Kennedy born 2 May 1901 at Frescati lied about his
age and enlisted in the RAF in 1917. He married Dorothy N U Channon in 1946
and died in Cornwall in 1973.
17 Catherine Louisa (Kathleen) Kennedy born 6 May 1904 at Frescati married
Captain Cecil Horace Reginald Barnes, OBE, Wiltshire regiment on 29 Dec 1825 at
SS Philip & James, Booterstown. Cecil was the only son of H T Barnes, Windom
House, Maisemore, Gloucester.
18 Geoffrey Irwin Kennedy born 25 Jan 1906 at Frescati married Phyllis S Hillen and
died at Kingston on Thames in 1973.
19 Gerald Walter Kennedy born 30 Jul 1907 at Frescati was a commercial traveller.
He married Florence Mary Conan on 21 Dec 1940 at Foxrock Church. Florence
was the daughter of Alexander Conan of Monte Alverno.
20 Fredericka Kennedy born 16 Feb 1909 at Frescati became a hospital nurse and
was living with the Hern family in London in 1939.
21 Francis John Kennedy born 8 Jul 1910 at Frescati, Blackrock was an assistant works
manager resident at Moyne Road and married Irene Doris Robbins as the
University Church on 25 Sep 1940. Irene was the daughter of Francis William
Robbins, a commercial traveller.

20 Jan 1829 at St Peter’s Church Dublin.
George Kennedy, solicitor died at Tullamore on the 4 Feb 1842 aged 82.
Catherine, widow of George Kennedy died in 1849. (Possibly Catherine Wood daughter of Samuel
and Jane Wood).
Frederick, Hubert & Tredegar played for Wanderers Football club and enlisted in the Imperial
Yeomanry.
