John Ormsby Jones a solicitor 2nd son of James Jones of Mount Edward, Co Sligo married
Elinor Hone daughter of William Hone and Lucy Crosthwaite in 1847. He lived at 8 Lower
Gloucester Street, Dublin and Mount Salem, Galloping Green, Stillorgan. Ellen died
06.11.1881 at Mount Salem and was buried at Mount Jerome. John died 13.07.1885 at
Mount Salem and was buried with his wife. Charles Ross Todd was his executor.
1 Lucy Florence Jones eldest daughter born 18.01.1849 at 15 Upper Rutland Street.
Lucy died on 03.03.1930 at Mount Salem and was buried with her parents. Probate
to Percy James Covill Jones.
2 Ellie Elise Jones born 19.03.1850 at 3 Fitzgibbon Street married on 29.01.1880 to
Charles G Ross-Todd 2nd son of the late Robert Ross-Todd, Clerk of the Crown, Co
Down at Stillorgan Church. Ellie Elise died 03.05.1923 and was buried with her
parents. Charles died in San Remo in February 1932.
3 Maria Lyons Jones youngest daughter born 27.12.1851 at 3 Fitzgibbon Street. She
was a member of the Boarding Out Committee of the Rathdown Guardians in 1904.
She died on 17.08.1931 at Mount Salem and left 4K in personal estate.
4 Thomas Hone Jones born 10.12.1854 at 3 Fitzgibbon Street. He moved to Australia
and married there. The lease he had on 10,240 acres at Lillicro, Narran County was
withdrawn in 1886. In 1891 a letter appeared in the 'Lost Friends' column of the
Freeman's Journal. Thomas had gone to Ceylon and his last known whereabouts
was Burwood, Sydney in 1886. He was being sought by his wife and son. He died
a widower late of 145 Bridge Street, Richmond, Victoria on 18 Nov 1921.
1 Nell Barbara Jones born circa 1900 in Melbourne. She was living with her spinster
aunts by 1911. She started a cub scout pack at Stillorgan in 1924. She married
Captain William Humphreys Knox elder son of Lt Col and Mrs R F Knox of Baird’s
Hill House, Thanet on 4 Jun 1929 at Stillorgan Church. The parish records note the
resignation of Mrs Nell Knox as cub scout leader in 1929.
2 Lucy Jones c/o Mrs Weatherburn of 3 Westley Avenue, Ivanhoe a suburb of
Melbourne, Australia, a minor in 1921.
3 Keith Jones mentioned in the Will of his father; whereabouts unknown.
