Joseph Hone son on John Hone, solicitor of 21 North Great George's Street and Anne
Crosthwaith. Joseph went into practice with his father who died 19 Jul 1839 at 21 North
Great George's Street before moving the business to 5 Foster Place. He married Maria Jane
Kinahan daughter of George Kinahan of Roebuck Park on 2 Jan 1842 at Taney Church. They
moved to Ashton Park on Monkstown's Avenue commonly called Thunders' Avenue in 1849.
Joseph was secretary and treasurer to Kingstowns Lying-In Hospital. Joseph died at Ashton
Park 9 Mar 1872 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 John Hone born circa 1844, solicitor of 5 Foster Place married Annie Matilda Elwood at
St Stephen's Church on 6 Apr 1876. Annie was the only daughter of the Rev Edward Lloyd
Elwood, Rector of Kilmactrany, Sligo. John was the executor of his father's Will and lived at
Astown Park and Grovedale, Golden Ball. John died 7 Sep 1889. Annie died at Kingstown
20 Feb 1901.
2 Maria Jane Eliza one, eldest daughter born 3 Sep 1845 died umarried at Tigh Lorcain Hall,
the home of her brother Charles on 5 Jan 1898. She was buried at Mount Jerome.
3 Anna born 29 Jan 1849 at Ashton Park died an Infant in March 1949.
4 Son born 18 Sep 1850 at Ashton Park.
5 Joseph Hone, third son died 30 Jan 1898 at Francestown, South Africa.
6 Nathaniel Matthew Hone of Woodstock, Ceylon married Lillian Gertrude Bate, eldest
daughter of the late Isaac Bate of The Grange, King's Heath at All Saints Church, King's Heath
16 Dec 1891. They lived at Greencroft, Carrickmines. Nathaniel died at Glenbourne,
Ballyogan 29 Nov 1912.
1 Nathaniel Frederick Hone Killied in action 1915.
7 Emily Charlotte (Cosy) Hone born 24 Feb 1853 at Ashton Park married William H Wilson,
Barrister at Law and younger son of William Wilson of 59 Pembroke Road at
Bartholomew's Church on 7 Apr 1880. William became a stock broker with premises at
36 College Green. They lived at Carrickmines House. Emily died at Carrickmines House
18 Aug 1914.
1 Emily Constance Wilson circa 14 Jan 1881 married widower George Mitchell of
Ardlui on 20 Feb 1909 at Tullow Church.
2 Eva Jane Wilson born circa 1886.
3 Charles Robert Wilson born circa 1887 died of wounds 24 May 1916.
4 George Henry Wilson born circa 1890. He married Molly Cunliffe, eldest daughter
of Sir Ellis Cunliffe, solicitor to the Board of Trade. Killed in action 4 Nov 1917.
5 Arthur Hone Wilson born circa 1906 died of wounds in November 1916.
6 John Hugh Wilson also fought in WW1. As a widower of Carrickmines House he
secondly married Gwendoline Alice Sherlock Richardson (Birdie) Oliver, daughter
of William Richardson Oliver of Stream Hill, Doneraile, Cork at Tullow Church,
Foxrock on 3 Apr 1929.
7 Son born 8 Sep 1854 at Aston Park.
8 Jane Charlotte Hone born 8 Mar 1857 died at Ashton Park 18 Dec 1857.
9 Charles Henry Hone, youngest son born 23 Oct 1866 at Aston Park. He moved to
Grove, Stillorgan in 1896 and renamed it Tigh-Lorcain Hall where is ran a dairy
farm for a number of years. He married Ellen Mary (Neillie) Parker, daughter of
Samuel Leslie Parker, a leather merchant from 8 Tivoli Terrace South, Kingstown
at Monkstown Church on 7 Mar 1905. No issue was found. Charles died
19 May 1924.
