Edward Gethings married Mary Richardson nee Marsh on 22.03.1840 at Crumlin. Edward of Looceville
Crumlin described variously as office clerk, policeman and grocer died 20.06.1886 aged 70 at Looceville,
Crumlin.
1 John Joseph Gethings born 1.01.1841 Crumlin married Sarah Frances Watts on 22.07.1862
at Stillorgan Church. Sarah was the daughter of James Watts, a shoemaker of Stillorgan
Grove and John Joseph was working as a servant in Stillorgan Grove. John Joseph got a job as a
warder of Kilmainham jail in January 1866. He was stabbed to death on 03.08.1866 and was
buried at St Mary's Graveyard, Crumlin. His killer Patrick Meehan pleaded guilty to the charge
of manslaughter and was sentenced to 5 years penal servitude. The couple had no children.
2 Jane Eliza Gethings baptised at Crumlin on 30.12.1844.
3 Richard Gethings baptised at Crumlin in 1846 was buried on 24.04.1846 at Crumlin.
4 Edward George Gethings baptised at Crumlin in 1849 married Charlotte Elizabeth Robinson at
Taney Church on 04.0.1880. Charlotte was the 3rd daughter of the late James Robinson,
merchant of Herbert Hill, Dundrum. Edward, a merchant was resident at the Prince of
Wales Hotel, Dublin. Charlotte died 18.07.1881 aged 29 at 4 Grosvenor Road, Rathgar and
was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Charlotte Elizabeth Gethings born 17.07.1881 at 4 Grosvenor Road, Rathgar died a
spinster at the Adelaide Hospital, late of Rostrevor Road, Rathgar on 20.01.1957 and was
buried at Mount Jerome.
Edward secondly married Fanny Maude Robinson, fifth daughter of James Robinson at the
Collegiate Church, Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1884. Fan died at Melrose, Nashville, Howth on
27.01.1892 and was buried at Mount Jerome. Edward was a cork merchant and manufacturer
of 151-153 Thomas Street, supplying chemists, grocers and bottlers. Edward died 19.01.1925
at the Adelaide Hospital, late of Charleville Road and was buried at Mount Jerome.
5 Mary Jane Gethings baptised 05.02.1854 at Crumlin. Mary Jane only daughter died on
13.01.1861 and was buried at St Mary's Graveyard.
6 Henry Alexander Gethings baptised at Crumlin in 1857.
