Joseph Gabbett, barrister at law, 2nd son of William Gabbett and Jane Maunsell of Caherline,
Ballybrood, Limerick married Mary Litton only daughter of Edward Litton and his wife
Charlotte Letablere in 1813.
1 Rev William Gabbett eldest son born circa 1816 Rector at Inniscarra, Cork married Mary
Singer daughter of Rev Joseph Henderson Singer of Mount Anville Park and later Bishop
of Meath on 14.04.1846 at Taney Church. Mary died on 01.06.1854 at Ardbraccan House.
William died on 01.02.1885 aged 69 years at 57 Queen Anne Street, London.
2 Charlotte Gabbett born circa 1817 died on 27.03.1876 at 3 Richmond Terrace, Tramore.
3 Jane Gabbett 2nd daughter born circa 1818 married Rev Maurice Fitzgerald Day, Incumbent
of St Matthias on 29.07.1852 at Bray Church. They were living in Greystones in 1901.
Maurice died 19.12.1904 aged 88 years and Jane died on 07.02.1906 aged 88 years both at
Kilard, Greystones.
4 Matthew Richard Gabbett 2nd son born circa 1819 married Angel Catherine Atkinson eldest
daughter of Thomas Atkinson of Rathangan, Queens County on 13.01.1853 at Castleknock.
Matthew died 17.02.1860 at his residence Eversham, Stillorgan. Angel died on 24.03.1890 at
40 Church Road, Richmond in Surrey.
1 Mary Esther Gabbett eldest daughter born 24.03.1854 at 13 Fitzwilliam Square South
and died unmarried on 02.02.1877 at 24 Statford Street, Edinburgh.
2 Joseph Edward Gabbett born 27.06.1855 at 13 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin late of the
Indian Public Works. Consulting Engineer to state railways 1900-1903 in Calcutta and
lately of Elsinore, Delgany died unmarried on 12.11.1928 aged 73 years.
3 Margaret Catherine Gabbett born circa 1858 living with Joseph in 1911 died unmarried
on 08.09.1927 aged 70 years lately of Elsinore, Delgany.

6 Dorothea Maria (Dora) Gabbett born circa 1823 died on 18.06.1887 aged 64 years at the
Vicarage Merton, Surrey.
7 Vescina Gabbett born circa 1826 living with her sister Jane in Greystones in 1901. Vescina died
on 22.01.1907 aged 82 years at Elsinore, Delgany.
8 Hannah Maria Gabbett, youngest daughter born 22.01.1829 married Rev John Caillard Erck of
27 Herbert Place and Bedford Street, Liverpool by Rev E Gabbett brother of the bride on
28.05.1859 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. John formerly of The Vicarage, Merton, Surrey died
on 24.02.1910 at 24 Norton Road, Hove, Brighton.
9 Rev Joseph Gabbett died born circa 1830 unmarried on 31.07.1858 in London.
10 Rev Edward Gabbett 4th son, born 21.03.1831 at 78 Lower Mount Street, Incumbent of Grange
O’Neil and married Ellen Frances Smyly only surviving child of Rev Cecil Smyly, Incumbent of
Grange, Armagh on 28.04.1864 at the Parish Church of Grange. Edward married secondly Emily
Massy daughter of Hugh Massy of Riversdale on 22.11.1871 in Limerick. They were living in
Limerick in 1901. Edward died 16.04.1912 aged 81 years at Croom Rectory. Emily died on
29.08.1914 aged 73 years at 10 Mount Street Crescent.
