Wilmots of Glanmire Cork
Edward Wilmot accompanied his uncle the Archbishop of Tuam to Ireland.
Captain Edward Wilmot married Martha Moore daughter of Rev Charles Moore the Rector of
Innishannon, Cork and Catherine Rogers in 1771. On retiring from the Army Captain Wilmot
obtained a position in the Customs as Port Surveyor of Drogheda in 1778. Afterwards he
transferred to Cork and lived at Glanmire.

married Elizabeth Hester Chetwode eldest daughter of Rev John Chetwode of Glanmire and
Elizabeth Hamilton on 23.09.1798 at Liverpool.
1 Emily Margaret Wilmot only daughter born 26.10.1799 married William Brooke 2nd
son of Rev William Brooke on 26.08.1819 in Cork. Emily died on 10.10.1850 at Byron
Hotel, Sutton. William married Catherine Bradford eldest daughter of William
Bradford and Martha Wilmot on 29.03.1853. Martha an Aunt of Emily and Mother of
Catherine went to live at Taney with her daughter and son-in-law and died there on
18.12.1873 aged 98 years.
2 Edward Wilmot born 04.02.1801 now of Woodbrook in Queens County married Lady
Jean Janet Erskine younger daughter of John Thomas the Earl of Mar on 29.04.1830
at Liverpool. Edward inherited the estate of Jonathan Chetwood who died
11.05.1839 dsp and assumed by Royal Licence the surname and arms of Chetwode
in addition to Wilmot. They had 5 children. Janet died on 16.05.1861 aged 50 years at
3 Belgrave Square, Monkstown and Edward Wilmot Chetwode late of Woodbrook died
09.05.1874 aged 73 years at 16 Stanford Road, Kensington. Probate granted to Knightly
Jonathan Wilmot Chetwode.
1 Knightley Jonathan Wilmot Chetwode eldest son born 31.05.1831 married Henriette
daughter of late Baroness Charlotte Uggla née Fleming and relict of late Count Ludwig
Kalling on 21.11.1872 at Trinity Church, Pan Basses, Pyrenees. Knightley died on
12.01.1887 aged 56 years at Pau, France.
2 Edward Robert Erskine Wilmot-Chetwode 2nd son born 24.09.1852 at Taney Hill
married Gertrude Hamilton eldest daughter of Rev Alfred Hamilton Rector of Taney,
Dundrum on 01.09.1875 at St James, Bangor, Wales. Edward younger son died
01.04.1886 aged 33 years at New Orleans. Gertude May widow of Edward married
Rev Edward Mewburn Walker of Queen’s College, Oxford at Christ Church, Taney on
13.03.1890.

Park married A.H. Marindin of the 42nd Highland Regiment at Besselsleigh
Church on 30.11.1899.

Company Imperial Yeomanry died in action 08.07.1900 aged 22 years at
Lindley, South Africa.
3 Rita Kathleen Wilmot-Chetwode born 09.11.1879 at Kimmage Manor, Terenure
married Arthur Edward Kinahan of Moyglare, Maynooth son of George Kinahan
of Roebuck Park on the 25.09.1901 at St Peter’s in the East, Oxford.

4 Frances (Fanny) Elizabeth Isabella Wilmot Chetwode died 23.05.1894 at Bath.
5 Janet Philadelphia Wilmot Chetwode.
2 Catherine Wilmot eldest daughter born circa 1773. Catherine left Cork in 1801 and accompanied
Lord and Lady Mount Cashell on their travels. Catherine died on 24.04.1824 in Paris.
3 Martha Wilmot born circa 1775 married Rev William Bradford in 1812. William died on 19.06.1857
aged 77 years at the Rectory, Storrington, Sussex and Martha went to live with her daughter
Catherine and son-in-law William at Taney House. Martha died there on 18.12.1873 aged 98 years.
1 Catherine Ann Daschkaw Bradford baptised 03.05.1814 at Storrington, Sussex married
William Brooke of Taney House, Dundrum, Dublin on 29.03.1853 at Storrington.
2 Wilmot Henry Bradford baptised on 17.06.1815 at Storrington, Sussex.
3 Blanch Elizabeth Bradford baptised on 23.11.1816 at Storrington, Sussex.
4 Charles Wilmot a Naval Officer died of Yellow Fever in the West Indies in 1802.

6 Dorothea Wilmot born circa 1782 married Roger Eaton of Parkglare in Pembrokeshire on
10.06.1812 at Clifton.
7 Edward Eardley Wilmot joined the military and attained the rank of Lieut Col with the Royal
Horse Artillery at Island Bridge, Dublin. He married Mary Ann. Edward died at Hastings on
25.09.1832 and Mary Anne died at Worthing aged 48 in February 1833.
