Charles J P, of Harristown, son of Alexander Thompson of Air Hill, Queen’s County married
Thomasina Elizabeth Herbert, youngest daughter of the Rev Henry Herbert of Rathdowney
and they had eight children. They moved to Wonersh, Surrey circa 1880. They lived at
Herbert Hill from 1893 to 1895. Charles died 28 Jan 1895 and left 22K in person estate.
The family moved to Westerton in Dundrum.
1 Charles Herbert Thompson born circa 1857. He attended Trinity College and was a
student of the Adelaide Hospital. A medical Doctor, he lived at Thorn Villa, Heaton
Moor Road, Stock-Port. He died 6 Jan 1954 at Ruislip.
2 Alexander Richard Thompson born 14 Jun 1858 at Harristown.
3 Son Thompson born 9 Dec 1859 at Harristown.
4 Thomasina Sophia Thompson, second daughter, born 8 Jul 1861, at Harristown.
Thomasina an MBE died unmarried at Westerton, Dundrum on 27 May 1938.
6 Sophia Jane Thompson, third daughter born circa 1864 married Willoughby James
Hamilton, fourth son of Canon Hamilton, Rector of Dundrum at Taney in 1894.
Willoughby was a stockbroker and ex lawn tennis player. They had no issue.
Willoughby died 27 Sep 1943 and Sophia died late of Sydenham Place on
10 Feb 1943.
5 Alice Olivia Thompson born circa 1869 at Harristown died unmarried on 14 Dec 1926
at Westerton.
7 Edward Robert Thompson, youngest son born 31 Aug 1870 at Harristown married
Ellen Mary Charlotte Dundas, daughter of Sir Robert Dundas and widow of Lt Col
Gerard Goff in 1903. Edward died 18 Jan 1940 at St Leonards-on-Sea.
