Richard Tanham a gardener married Margaret Hand. In 1873 Margaret was left £55 by her
brother James in America. They lived at Kingsfort near Moynalty, Co Meath. Richard died
13 Dec 192 at Back Street Kells and Margaret died same place on 14 Jan 1894 at same place.
1 Philip Ranham born circa 1851 Kells, Co Meath married Catherine (Kathleen) Murray
on 19 Feb 1882 at Cabinteeley Church. Kathleen was the daughter of John Murray, a
blacksmith of Galloping Green. He was working as a gardener at Balalley Park and
subsequently worked at Woodview House, Mount Merrion Avenue. They had eleven
children of whom 9 survived in 1911. Catherine was living with seven of their
children in Dodder Walk, Rathgar and Philip was living in the Iveagh Hostel. In 1920
Philip was the gardener at Drummartin Castle. Philip died 12 Jul 1930 at the South
Dublin Workhouse, late of Iveagh House and Kathleen died 21 Apr 1933 at
Grangegorman Hospital late of Drummartin Castle. Both were buried at Deansgrange.
1 Richard Tanham born 7 Dec 1882 at Stillorgan was an electrical engineer and
worked for Dublin United Tramways. He married Mabel Robinson on
8 Jan 1912 at Our Lady of Refuge Church, Rathmines. Mabel was living at
Harold's Cross and was the daughter of the late Peter Robinson, photographer.
Richard died 8 Sep 1953 at 56 Park Avenue and was buried at Deansgrange.
1 Richard Patrick Tanham born 12 March 1913 at Oaklands Park,
Donnybrook. A keen cricketer he played for Pembroke 1932-1937 and
Railway Union 1947-1948.
2 John Veda (Jack) Tanham born 27 Nov 1914 born at 58 Oaklands Park,
Donnybrook.
3 Kyran (Kyrie) Philip Tanham born 4 Sep 1916 at Claremont Road,
Donnybrook was a keen cricketer and captained Railway Union's 1st's in
the 1940's. He was an accountant and married Mary Josephine Kettle on
5 Aug 1942 at University Church, Stephen's Green. Mary was a typist and
the daughter of Patrick Kettle, a farmer. In the 1960's he was secretary/
manager of Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children.
4 Violet Teresa Tanham born 9 Jul 1918 at Holles Street, father resident at
Drummartin. She helped found the first woman's cricket team at
Railway Union in the 1940's and also played Hockey for Leinster. She
married Alexander McCarthy of Carysfort Avenue in 1944.
5 Terence H Tanham born 25 Oct 1920 at 56 Park Avenue, Sandymount
died 13 Nov 1920 same place and was buried at Deansgrange.
6 Brendan Gerard Tanham born 1 Jan 1922 at 56 Park Avenue, Sandymount.
Brendan was an engineer and married Mary O'Callaghan on 20 Oct 1947.
7 Mabel Carmel Tanham died a infant on 5 Jan 1924 at 56 Park Avenue and
was buried at Deansgrange.
8 Joseph Tanham died on 22 Jan 1925 at a day old at 56 Park Avenue and
was buried at Deansgrange.
2 John Tanham died aged 2 at Ballinteer on 15 Mar 1887 at Woodlawn, Ballinteer.
3 Maria Tanham born 26 Nov 1885 at Merton, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford married
Edward Leopold Hopkins on 25 Jan 1911 at the Church of the Three Patrons in
Rathmines. They lived at Moorfield Cottages in Roebuck and Edward was a
shop manager and later a commercial traveller.

2 Edward Christopher Hopkins born 8 Jun 1917 at Moorfield Cottages,
Roebuck.
3 Patrick William Hopkins born 13 Mar 1921 at Drummartin Castle.
4 Margaret Tanham born 29 Feb 1888 at Woodview, Blackrock baptised in Booterstown.
She was living with her grandmother at Galloping Green in both 1901 and 1911. It is
thought she emigrated in 1911 with her sister Bridget.
5 Michael Tanham born circa 1890 Co Dublin was a gardener in 1911. He and later
worked at a taxi driver as a bus driver for the Blue Line. He married Margurite (Ciss)
Doyle on 29 Jan 1923 at the Church of the Holy Name in Rathmines. Margurite was
resident at Classons Bridge and the daughter of Michael Doyle. Michael who was
suffering from depression died from carbon monoxide poisoning on 7 Jan 1940.
Margurite died 7 May 1948 at Dr Stephen’s Hospital late of 7 Classon’s Bridge. Both
were buried at Deansgrange. Ciss was survived by her mother, father, sons and
daughters.
6 Johanna Tanham born 28 Jun 1892 at 3 Dartry Cottages was a stationery clerk in 1911.
7 Catherine (Kate) Tanham born 9 Jan 1895 at Dartry Cottages worked in the hat
business in 1911. She married Peter Mullihan on 26 Apr 1920 at Holycross, Dundrum.
Peter was a labourer, living at Landscape, Dundrum and was the son of Thomas
Mulligan a farmer. Kathleen Mullingan died from flu whilst pregnanr on 28 Dec 1920 at
Drummartin Castle. She was buried at Deansgrange.
8 William Patrick Tanham born 17 Mar 1896 at Dartry Cottages. He was a chauffeur
and married Bridget Furlong on 24 Jun 1927 at the Church of the Holy Name. Rathmines.
Bridget was a servant and the daughter of Patrick Furlong, a labourer.
9 Bridget Tanham born 24 Sep 1898 at 3 Dartry Cottages. It is thought that she emigrated
to America in 1911 with her sister Margaret.
10 Isabella Tanham born 28 Jul 1902 at Dartry Cottages lived with her brother at Sandymount.
She married William Martin a commercial traveller on 22 April 1924 at the Church of the
Holy Name, Rathmines. William was the son of Stephen Martin, a hairdresser.
