William Reay born circa 1825 in Co Louth married Susanna Davidson, daughter of James Davison, a
farmer at St Catherine’s Church on 2 Mar 1863, both gave their address as Braithwaite Street.
William was a land steward and son of Samuel Reay. In later life he was described as a gardener and
labourer. They lived at 2 Grove view from 1894 to 1902 and Susanna ran a tea and coffee rooms from
the house. William died at 46 Seville Cottages, Brunswick Street on 4 Mar 1907 aged 82. Susanna was
a widow living with her sister in law at North Dock in 1911. She died at the House of Rest in Merrion on
22 Jul 1930.
1 Susan Reay born circa 1873 in County Meath married Edward James Walker, of Knockrobbin, Co
Wicklow, a gardener born in Cavan and son of Edward Walker a land Stewart at Stillorgan Church,
on 26 Jun 1895. They were living in Howth in 1901 and also in 1911 when Edward was working
for the Stokes Family.
1 Charles Arthur Walker born 8 Apr 1896 at Camolin, Co Wexford died from Scarlatina at Cork
Street Hospital 2 Mar 1902.
2 William Henry Walker born 8 Sep 1899 Castleknock, Dublin.
3 Gertrude Florence born circa 1902 at Dublin.
2 Emily Reay born 30 Apr 1879 at Murphystown. Of 2 Grove View she married William Samuel Jolley,
carpenter and son of Christopher Thomas Jolly of Newtown Park, builder at St Brigid’s Church on
21 Aug 1901. They were living at Kilcandra in 1911 and had two children. William died 14 Jan 1914
at Kilcandra, Glenealy, Co Wicklow aged 37 years. His father Christopher was in attendance.
1 Evelyn Alexandra Jolley eldest daughter born 24 Jun 1903 at Newtown Park married
George Alexander Ross, son of William James Ross on 16.08.1926 at St Peter’s Church,
Dublin.
2 Doreen Jolley born circa 1910 in Co Wicklow.
3 Catherine Reay born 13 Feb 1876 at Murphystown . Of 2 Grove Avenue married Arthur Edward
Labat Payne, a railway official of 13 Clarinda Park, Kingstown son of George Thomas Payne, Clerk in
Holy orders and Emily Burton Adamson at Brigid’s Church, Stillorgan on 18 Aug 1902. Arthur died at
Hampstead, Glasnevin on 27 Dec 1915 aged 53.
