Plunkett Family of Beaufield, Stillorgan
John Plunkett born circa 1778 married Mary Barrington circa 1805. In 1819 John established a
business of Maltsters at Portland Street, Dublin. The Company supplied all the large Breweries such
as Guinness, Beamish & Crawford and the Phoenix Brewery. John died on 19.05.1830 and Mary died
05.04.1854 and the business passed to their son Randal Plunkett. John was buried in the vaults of
Clarendon Street Church and Mary was buried at Glasnevin.

Clara died on 13.03.1916 aged 75 years late of Crosthwaite Park East, Kingstown, Co Dublin.
4 Oliver Charles Plunkett baptised on 03.01.1845 at St Catherine’s Church, Meath Street,
Dublin. Oliver married Emma Warren Browne daughter of Rev Henry Warren Browne on
22.04.1881 at the Parish Church of St Sepulchre, London. Oliver converted to Church of
Ireland when he married Emma and this branch of the Plunkett family became Church of
Ireland. Oliver Plunkett, a retired maltster died at Springfield, Leixlip (just beyond the Lucan
Spa Hotel on 27.06.1906 aged 61 years and left 7K in personal estate.

Clontarf married May Swain daughter of George Swain on 26.07.1920 at Christ Church,
Mount Pellon, Halifax, Yorkshire. Charles died 4.01.1947 London.
2 Herbert Valentine Purcell (Plunkett) born 23.05.1879 at Newbridge Avenue, Sandymount
baptised on 06.07.1879 at the Royal Chapel of St Matthew in Ringsend. Herbert married
Mary Charlotte Rankin daughter of Joseph LC Rankin, Publican on 05.08.1909 at the Parish
Church, Mallow. Herbert was living at Floriana, Malta at the time of his marriage.
3 Oliver (Pelham) Ernest Purcell (Plunkett) born 14.09.1880 at Newbridge Avenue,
Sandymount baptised on 17.10.1880 at the Royal Chapel of St Matthew in Ringsend.
Charles, Herbert and Oliver were at Conway College in 1891 in Wales.
4 Ethel Olive Plunkett born 22.09.1881 Claremont, Carrickmines. In 1911 Ethel was a Nurse
in London.
5 Mabel Eveline Purcell Plunkett born 08.11.1882 Claremont, Carrickmines. Mabel married
Wilfred Cecil Morton Broadbent son of Robert Broadbent and Agnes Taylor on 31.03.1919
at Langham, Westminster.
6 Pelham Arthur Stanley Plunkett 1884 married Laura Beckett daughter of Alexander Beckett
at St Kevin’s Church, Dublin on 15.07.1910. Pelham died circa 10.12.1955 aged 71 years.
7 Claude Ralph Allen Plunkett born 09.10.1885 and baptised at St Brigid’s Church, Stillorgan.
Claude married Kathleen Broadbent in Leeds in 1919.
8 Emma Norah Plunkett born 01.11.1886 and baptised at St Brigid’s Church, Stillorgan. Emma
was living in Leeds with her brother Charles in 1911.

6 John Randal Plunkett baptised 17.04.1849 at St Catherine’s Church, Meath Street, Dublin. John Randal
the 2nd surviving son married Cecilia Mary (Lilly) Read eldest daughter of Thomas Laurence Read of
Petersham Terrace, Queen’s Gate, London on 23.10.1878 in the Oratory, Brompton, London. John
Randal died 14.04.1915 aged 65 years.
1 Bertram Joseph Plunkett born 04.08.1879 at Kingstown married Dorothy Felgate at Kensington in
October 1913.
2 Leo Randal Plunkett born 11.06.1880 at Kingstown. Leo served in France with the Royal Dublin
Fusiliers and married Lucy Agnes Shearcroft Harrington on 06.07.1910 at St Mary's Church,
Winnipeg, Canada. Lucy survived the sinking of the RMS Leinster.
3 Violet Mary Plunkett born 15.12.1881 at Vesey Place, Kingstown married Frederick Llewwllyn
on 18.10.1919 at St George's, Hanover Square.
4 Monica Mary Plunkett born 26.01.1885 at 16 Vesey Place, Kingstown married Patrick Dempsey,
MD at St Andrew's Westland Row on 20.02.1906.
5 Cecil Michael Randal Plunkett infant son born 1892 of 83 Merrion Square baptised at St Andrew’s
Church, Dublin and died 05.05.1893.
6 Norah Mary (Binnie) Plunkett born circa 1894 of 83 Merrion Square died at St Mary's Convent,
Cambridge on 13.04.1909 and was buried in Cambridge.
7 Sheila Isabel Mary Plunkett born 1897 at 83 Merrion Square, Dublin died 10.10.1918 aged 21 years
when the RMS Leinster was torpedoed. Her sister-in-law Lucy Agnes Harrington, wife of Leo survived.
Sheila was buried at Glasnevin.
