Captain James Wilmot Ormsby (45th Regiment) of Foxford and Cloghans, Mayo was born circa 1737, the
son of Charles M Ormsby of Cloghans Castle. He married Jeanne de Gualy of Foxford, Mayo.

1 Sir Charles Montague Ormsby Bart born 23.04.1767 Foxford was knighted in 1806 and created
Baronet 1812. Charles was Counsel to the Irish Revenue and married Elizabeth Kingsbury on
21.06.1794 at St Anne’s Church, Dublin. Charles died 02.05.1818 at Ely Place, Dublin.
1 Sir James Ormsby born circa 1796 died on 01.11.1821 aged 25 years at Malta where
he had gone for his health.
2 Sir Thomas Ormsby born circa 1797 married Mary Slater in 1824. Thomas died
09.08.1833 aged 36 years suddenly at Cowes on board the Water Witch yacht.
2 Major Stephen Ormsby of the Carlow Militia born circa 1768 married Maria Faviere daughter of
Maximillia Faviere circa June 1801. Stephen died circa 07.08.1852 with no issue at 48 Rue de St
Cloud, Versailles, Paris where he had resided for many years. Maria died on 09.06.1857 at Mall
House, Lismore the residence of her sister.
3 Rev James Wilmot Ormsby born circa 1769 married Elizabeth Massey only daughter of Sir Hugh
Dillon Massy Bart in January 1798. Elizabeth died circa 29.08.1805 at Bray. James died in Paris
and was buried there on 27.01.1831.

4 Rev Henry Ormsby born circa 1770 married Margaret Sandys daughter of Rev Michael Sandys
the Rector of Powerscourt in 1804. Margaret was a cousin of Margaret Blachford Tighe. Henry
died 1818.
1 Rev John Blossett Ormsby born 25.05.1805 married Martha Grier youngest daughter
of Rev Dr Grier on 13.01.1830.
2 Rev William Edwin Ormsby born 06.07.1808 married Ellen Price daughter of James
Price on 09.12.1839. William the Vicar of St Peter’s, Drogheda died on 27.11.1858.
3 Charles Montagu Ormsby born 27.10.1810 married Anne Christina Hutchinson
daughter of Thomas Hutchinson and Widow of George Keough on 13.12.1839.
4 Rt Hon Henry Wilmot Ormsby 4th son born 19.02.1811 at Powerscourt married Julia
Hamilton daughter of Henry Hamilton of Tullyish, Down in 1840. Henry died on
17.09.1887 aged 75 years at his residence in Bray.
5 Edwin Sandys Ormsby born 12.11.1813 married Charlotte Armstrong youngest
daughter of Simon Armstrong of Drumcose, Fermanagh on 18.04.1856 at Monea
Church. Edwin died on 24.04.1881 at Templemore.
6 Mary Charlotte Ormsby married Rev Hugh Hamilton, grandson of late Dr Hugh
Hamilton, Bishop of Ossory on 19.07.1838. Mary died on 24.10. 1873 aged 67 years
and is buried at Powerscourt.
5 Colonel William Ormsby baptised 21.08.1780 of the 15th Regiment N.I. married Maria Judith
Underwood on 29.05.1813 at St Mary’s Church, Fort St George, India. William of the 52nd
Regiment Native Infantry and Superintendent of Police died on 02.03.1830 aged 51 years.

8 Charlotte Sophia Ormsby born circa 1779 married John Corneille Barrister at Law of 3
Dawson Street. Charlotte was only 17 years old when she married in 1796. John was involved
in St Anne’s Church on Dawson Street John was Secretary to the Board of Education and was
also Secretary to the Commissioners of Charitable Donations. His occupation was worth 1,600l
a year. Due to his death in 1815 these positions were filled by Chamberlain William Walker of
Merrion Street. After his death the family moved to France. Charlotte died in 1842 in Versailles
at 38 Avenue Gabriel, Champs Elysses and was buried on 25.10.1842.

Moynalty, Meath married Nicolette Almedone de Lanery on 05.09.1837 at the British
Embassy France. Witness Stephen Ormsby.
2 Charlotte Marie Corneille married Baron Emile Capelle Field Officer and Knight of the
Order of St Ferdinand of Spain only son of Baron Capelle ex Minister of State on
06.04.1843 in Paris, France. Charlotte was the niece of Sir Charles Montague Ormsby,
Bart. Baroness Capelle of Montpelier present at burial of her Mother Charlotte.
3 Marianne Corneille of the Parish of St Ann, Dublin married Claude Joseph Philibert
Guillemin on 01.03.1841 at Versailles. Witnesses John Corneille and Stephen Ormsby
9 Jane Ormsby married Rev Henry Francis Cary a Librarian of the British Museum. Jane died on
23.11.1832 and Henry the well known translator of “Dante” died on 14.08.1844 aged 72 years
in London.
