Thomas Myler of Tinnacurra
Thomas Myler a farmer of Tincurry married Anne Synnot. Anne was the daughter of George Synnot
of Ballinaclash. They lived at Tinnacurra in County Wexford and they had at least 4 children.
Thomas signed the Qualification Role in 1779.
1 Walter Meyler of Tinnacurra married Rebecca (Gretta) Raymond in 1803 at Gretna Green.
Rebecca was the eldest daughter of William Raymond of Dromin. Rebecca died circa 1809.

Walter secondly married Ann Fewtrell in April 1812. Anne was the daughter of William &
Ann Fewtrell. Her father was a customs officer of Camden Street. The lived at Portland
Street before moving to Sallymount in Ranelagh. His sister in law Priscilla (Priss) lived with
the family and his brother in law Will was a regular visitor. They next moved to Pembroke
Lodge on London Bridge Road in 1823. Ann died in December 1823 aged 38 and was buried
with her parents at St Marks after two weeks in the vaults while her family kept watch so
she wouldn’t be taken by body snatchers. Her sister Priscilla died on 6 August 1843 and
was buried at St Marks. Walter went to reside at Laurel Lodge, where two of his daughters
were living, and continued declining amidst every attention. He died on the 27 Sep 1837, of
bronchitis, and was interred with his wife and her family in St Mark’s graveyard.
2 Walter Thomas Meyler born 29 Jan 1813 at 15 Portland Street baptised at St
Catherine’s attended Mr Keeley academy in Mount Pleasant in 1822. He travelled with
his uncle Will to Sligo for six months. They travelled by the Royal Canal to Mullingar
and then by mail coach to Sligo. He stayed for six months and when he returned to
Dublin he was sent to Mr Gallagher's Academy near Mount Street. He went to work
for William Alley, a brewer of Townsend street but refused to sign the indenture
documents as they were for seven years and went to live with his uncle George Meyer
at Laurel Lodge. He took a job with the counting house of Henry Roe of Crampton
Quay for a year before travelling to America in April 1831 returning to Ireland in
October 1832. He then went to London and returned to Ireland in 1834 where he
married Jane? and went to live at Laurel Lodge. He took a job in the office of John
Pidgeon. On George Roe’s introduction he became a member of the Chamber of
Commerce. He look a lease on one of Craig’s houses at Carysfort Avenue in 1835. He
took the premises, 25, now 20, Eustace Street,and Temple Lane stores, and before the
end of 1837 he commenced business on his own account and they moved to
Newington Terrace, Rathmines. The business premises were destroyed in a fire in
1840 but was covered by insurance. They were living at Bayview House when
Thomas ended up in Kilmainham jail in 1848. He was one of the proprietors and
writers of the Irish Tribune, insolvent in 1861 and was threatened with assassination
in 1862. He was living at Portlaw Terrace, Manor Street in 1863 and in Liverpool by
1866. He published his autobiography the Bells of St Catherine's in 1868 and a
second volume in 1870. They moved to Massachusetts where Thomas died on
20 Aug 1874 and Jane died 23 Dec 1877. Both are buried at Amesbury cemetery.

2 George Myler eldest son born Aug 1837 at Crampton Quay. He was a captain
in the 65th Regiment and married Annie Charlotte Henrietta Kelly in 1857.
They lived at Holywell cottage from 1860 to 1861. He died 22 Nov 1866 late
of Dundrum House and left 5K in personal estate. Annie died 5 Sep 1868.
1 George Meyler eldest son born circa 1859 died in Columbo in July 1892.
2 Walter Thomas Kelly Meyler born 22 June 1860 at Holywell Cottage
baptised at Taney an unmarried patient in Valentia in 1901. Classed as
an idiot in 1911 and a boarder in Cavan.
3 Emily Georgina Meyler born 3 Jun 1861 at Holywell Cottage baptised at
Taney. Emily of Laurel Lodge married Charles D H Jephson at Taney on
9 Sep 1885. Charles was with the Constabulary and was the son of
Jephson Jephson.
4 Annie Meyler of Laurel Lodge married Hamilton Dawson Reid on
3 Dec 1896 at St Peter's Church. Hamilton was the son Patrick Richard
Reid.
5 Rosie Meyler youngest daughter born 3 May 1864 at Dundrum House
married Dr Isaac Usher.
3 Anna Georgiana Meyler born January 1839 at Eustace Street died in Liverpool
in 1871 and was buried at Walton.
4 Son Meyler born October 1841 at Newington Tce, Rathmines.
5 William Sleator Harrison Meyler second son born 29 Jan 1845 at Wentworth
Place died of consumption in September 1869 aged 24.
6 Jane Susanna Meyler died 11 Dec 1861.
3 Sarah Meyler eldest daughter born circa 1814 died 10 Nov 1868 at Martello Terrace, Bray.
4 Priscilla Meyler born circa 1815 died 1895 at Taney aged 80 buried at St Nahi aged 76.
5 Richard F Meyler fifth son born circa 1819 died at the seat of his Uncle George at
Dundrum House in July 1845.
6 Anna Meyler living with her Uncle George at Laurel Lodge in 1833
7 Henry Meyler born 6 May 1825 was a doctor. He had a practice is Mitchelstown
and moved to Australia where he married Elizabeth Fender in 1868. Henry died in
1889 and Elizabeth died in 1918 aged 86.
8 Robert Meyler youngest son and tenth child born December 1828 was a clerk in the
Hibernian Bank. He was living at Blackrock and married Anne Ellen Malone in 1852
at St Andrews. Anne was the daughter of Laurence Malone of Eustace Street. Robert
died in Melbourne in April 1892.
2 George Myler George of Tinnacurra, Co Wexford served his time in Dublin to Mr Wade, a
wholesale grocer in Bride Street, became distiller in Costigan and Roe’s establishment,
and retired from it with an ample fortune in 1843. He lived at Laurel Lodge, Dundrum and
Dundrum House. He died a bachelor on 24 Apr 1864 at Laurel Lodge and left 12K in
personal estate.
3 Eleanor Meyler born circa 1808 of Tinnacurra first cousin to Dean Meyler of Westland
Row as last surviving child of Thomas Meyler of Tinnacurra died 31 Mar 1868.
