William Maguire born circa 1785 died on 02.07.1886 aged 101 years at Mallabracca.
John Maguire a farmer, son of William Maguire, a farmer married Jane Kingston daughter of Paul
Kingston, a farmer of Clodagh Drumdaleague. Witnesses: William and Paul Kingston. John died
23.04.1908 at Mullabracca (Sic) and left £210 in personal estate. Jane died 01.01.1917.

1 William Maguire born 15.02.1870 at Malabracca. William farmed the land and died
unmarried on 27.12.1941 aged 71 years.
2 Paul Maguire born 06.05.1872 at Malabracca. Paul left Queenstown on board the Cephalonia
on 26.04.1899 with Julia Anne Hurley born 17.02.1877 at Inchireagh daughter of Daniel
Hurley and Julia Collins. They married on 08.10.1901 in Boston. Julia died following childbirth
on 06.11.1909 aged 32 years at the General Hospital in Boston and is buried at Holy Cross,
Malden. The family lived in Boston USA.

3 Eliza Maguire born 09.09.1874 at Malabracca. Eliza died unmarried on 01.07.1947 aged 71
years at Malabracca.
4 Samuel Maguire born 11.03.1877 at Mallabracka. Sam a close friend of Michael Collins
worked for the British Post Office in London from the early 1900’s and captained the London
Hibernian Gaelic Football team in 3 All Ireland Finals. He was a member of the Irish Republican
Brotherhood and acted as Director of Intelligence for Britain during the troubles. He was
mainly responsible for importing arms and munitions of war into the Free State. He was
living with his brothers Richard and John in 1911 at 28 Camden Street, London. Sam a
supporter of the Anglo Irish Treaty returned to work in the Irish Free State civil service in 1923
being later dismissed in late 1924 seemingly without a pension.
Sam died of TB on 06.02.1927 aged 48 years at Malabracca. Informant William Maguire, brother.
His friends and the people of Dunmanway erected a Celtic cross in his memory at St Mary's
graveyard, Dunmanway. A group of friends raised money for a cup in his memory. Hopkins &
Hopkins were commissioned to create the Sam Maguire Memorial silver trophy. The cup costing
150 guineas went on display at H & H before being formally handed over to the memorial
committee. The cup was first played for on 30.09.1928 and was presented by Dr Patrick
McCartan, a close friends of Sams, to William 'Squires' Gannon who captained Kildare to win the
All-Ireland football final that year.
5 John Maguire born 18.08.1879 at Malabracca. John a sorter in the GPO in London living with his
brothers Richard and Sam in 1911 at 28 Camden Street, London.
6 Susan Maguire born 06.06.1881 at Malabracca. Susan died on 23.12.1881 aged 7 months
at Malabracca.
7 Richard Maguire born 27.07.1880 at Mallabracca. Richard a sorter in the GPO in London living
at 28 Camden Street, London in 1911 with his brothers John and Sam. Richard died of TB on
24.07.1912 aged 29 years at Mallabracca. Informant William Maguire, brother.
8 Mary Maguire born 04.04.1889 at Malabracca. Mary died unmarried on 14.10.1962 at the
District Hospital, Dunmanway.
Richard Maguire born circa 1844 brother of John died on 09.01.1894 aged 50 years at Mallabracca.
