John Charles Lyons, third son of John Lyons of Stephens green. He was a solicitor, admitted King’s
Inn in 1805. He was attorney to the Exchequer. He had offices at 8, Upper Ormond Quay and later
at 21 Arran Quay and later 23 Kildare Street. He married Lucina Boyle who died circa 1810.
1 John Charles Lyons eldest son born 16 Aug 1807 educated Trinity College and admitted
Kings Inn in 1825.
2 Henry James Lyons, second son born circa 1808.
3 William Lyons born circa 1809 third son of John Charles Lyons and Lucinda Boyle. He
married Eliza Maria Kelly at St George’s Church on 4 Sep 1840. Eliza was the daughter of
John Kelly of North Portland Street. William was a solicitor mainly dealing with
conveyancing. He had offices at 15 Kildare Street by 1851. After the death of his father,
he moved his office to Stephen’s Green and the family moved to Marino Park. Eliza died
18 Apr 1888 age 64 at Wellington Road and William died 17 Oct 1889 at 70 Wellington
Road. Both are buried at Stillorgan.
1 Georgina Lyons born circa 1846 married Francis Moore Scott of Island Bridge
House on 22 Jun 1865 at St Stephen’s Church. Francis was a woollen merchant
of Scott Spain & Rooney and a widower. He was the son of Thomas Christian Scott
and Margaretta Smith. His first wife Elizabeth (Lizzie) Schoales Whitelaw
MacJennett of Bray House. Lizzy died in 1864 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
Frances Anna, daughter from his first marriage married Robert Newell in 1893.
He was a commissioner for Kilmainham and retired in 1870. Francis was
appointed to the commission of the peace for the County of Dublin in 1872. He
was Hon Sec of the Chamber of Commerce in 1881 and appointed assistant
secretary to the Male and Female Masonic Schools in 1887. They lived at 70
Wellington Road in 1890 and at 12 Brighton Vale, Monkstown from 1892 to 1895.
Francis died 28 Apr 1897 aged 61 at Brighton Vale, Monkstown. Georgina died
18 Aug 1927 aged 81 years. Both were buried at St Brigid’s, Stillorgan.
1 Emma Beatrice Scott born 21 Mar 1866 at Island Bridge House died
10 Nov 1866.
2 Amy Constance Scott born 5 Aug 1867 at Island Bridge House married Robert
Dunn Cuscaden on 12 Feb 1890 at St Stephen’s Church, Dublin. Robert was
a dentist of Sligo and the son of William Henry Cuscaden (her cousin).
3 Arthur Edward Scott born 10 May 1870 at Island Bridge House married
Nelle Hipwell at St Ann’s Church Dublin on 26 July 1898. Nelle was the
daughter of Abraham Hipwell of Spring Gardens, Queens, County. Arthur
was secretary to the Church of Ireland.
4 Mary Elinor Scott born 1874 died 8 Aug 1952 aged 78 and was buried at
St Brigid’s.
5 George Irvine Scott born 2 Aug 1876 at Island Bridge House died 5 Dec 1892
aged 16 at Brighton Vale, Monkstown.
6 Florence Mabel Scott born 1879 at Island Bridge House died 19 Aug 1974
age 95 years and was buried at St Brigid’s, Stillorgan.
7 Helena Violet Scott youngest daughter born 1881 died 11 Dec 1962 aged 81
at Sheil’s Square and was buried at St Brigid’s, Stillorgan.
2 Maria Christina Lyons born 6 Aug 1862 at Wellington Road married William
Cuscaden at St Bartholomew’s on 17 May 1882.
3 Frederick W Lyons was a captain in HM army. He was living at Leysmill Arbroath,
Scotland in 1889.
John secondly married Teresa Corbet. Teresa died 20 Mar 1821 and was buried at Stillorgan.
Her sister Anne (died 3 Jun 1834) and her brother John (died 23 Oct 1836) were also buried
in the grave. John Charles died 5 Dec 1869 aged 87 at 79 Pembroke Road and was buried at
Stillorgan. He left 14K in personal estate
