James Long born circa 1830 in London. He was a deputy assistant commissary general and the second
son of George Long a barrister of Trinity College, Cambridge. He married Anna Mary Kirkwood eldest
daughter of Thomas Kirkwood, JP of Lakeview on 19 May 1852 at Arcarne Parish Church, Roscommon.
They were living at South Camp Aldershot, Aldershot (Hants), Farnham. James was a JP and died
14 Dec 1886 at Manor House, Dundrum and was buried at Mount Jerome. Anna died 23 Jan 1910 at
Lakelands and was buried with her husband.

2 Harriet Anne Mary Long eldest daughter born 23.07.1857 at Nassau, Bahamas married John
William O’Brien son of Thomas O’Brien on 01.12.1886 by special licence at Manor House,
Dundrum.
3 Sidney Sheldon Long born 31 Mar 1863. Sidney joined the Leicestershire Regiment in 1881
and the Durham Light Infantry in 1884 and then transferred to the Army Service Corps. He
was assistant commandant general in South China from 1896 to 1899 and served during the
South African war. He married Augusta Elizabeth Glover in 1889 in London. In 1908/9 he was
commandant of the ASC training at Aldershot. He was asst director of supplies and director
in 1913. Major General Long, CB, died at Buckinghamshire on 31 Jan 1940 and left 15K in
personal estate.
4 Sinclair Andrew Selden Long born 02.02.1865 at 5 Newbridge Terrace, Sandymount. He was a
medical student living in Edinburgh in 1881.
5 Anna Mary Long died 9 Aug 1868 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
6 Walter Kirkwood Long born 08.06.1868 at 3 Abercorn Terrace, Merrion infant died on
09.08.1868 and is buried at Mount Jerome.
7 Emmie Gertrude Long born 13.07.1869 married Arthur Stevens Goff eldest son of John Porter
Goff on 10.06.1891 at Taney Church. Arthur was the local GP for the Dundrum area. Emmie
died on 02.06.1928 aged 58 years at Dundrum Castle and Arthur died on 16.11.1951 aged 86
years at Hampstead, Glasnevin. They are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Ronald Adrian Jeffares Goff only son born 25.10.1892 at Manor House, Dundrum.
Ronald married Muriel Knollys Bailey elder daughter of Alfred Grahame Bailey of Glaslyn,
Herbert Park 1921on 20.09.1922 at Christ Church, Leeson Park
2 Doreen Anna Goff born 11.08.1905 at Lynton, Dundrum. Doreen married William Reginald
Nicholson son of Frederick Nicholson of the Old Vicarage, Shiplake, Oxon on 26.10.1933
at Taney Church.
8 Lt Col Clement Wilmore Long born 29.11.1870 Cork married Madeline Mary Killick daughter
of Richard Killick on 25.08.1906 in Jamaica. They were living in Surrey in 1939.
9 Cecil Kirkwood Long born 26.05.1872 at Woolwich, Kent. Cecil, late of Lakelands, Dundrum
died on 8.10.1904 aged 32 years at St Vincent’s Hospital following an accident with a milk cart
on Adelaide Road. He was buried Mount Jerome.
10 Irene Kirkwood Long youngest daughter born 17.08.1874 Woolwich married Blayney Hamilton
youngest son on 01.06.1898 at Taney Church. Irene died on 25.07.1942 aged 68 years at Rose
Park, Kill Avenue late of 80 Northumberland Road and Blayney died on 23.01.1946 at Cork Street
Hospital late of Dundrum Castle.
