Dr Eugene Le Clerc born circa 1802 was a native of France but studied and practiced in Ireland.
Eugene was the son of Joseph Le Clerc, a magistrate. His practice was at 3 Leinster Street in
1845 and by 1851 he was Assistant Surgeon of the Longford Militia and was living at Mount
Merrion Avenue. He was churchwarden of Booterstown in 1856. He was medical officer for
Blackrock/Booterstown from 1846 to 1857 which included Stillorgan from 1851.
In 1851 he married Anna Maria Crampton the daughter of Philip Crampton, MD, Surgeon in
Ordinary to Her Majesty in Ireland. In 1857 he resigned as medical officer of Blackrock and
Stillorgan and was appointed Medical Officer to the Constabulary based at the Phoenix Park.
He retired in 1880. Eugene died 8 Sep 1884 at Wilton Terrace and Anna Maria died at Wilton
Terrace on 27 Sep 1886 aged 82.
