1 Richard Annesley Joynt born circa 1783 son of James Joynt and Jane Amelia Brown nee
Annesley, of Hollymount Co Galway. He was a captain in the Roscommon Militia and
married Jane Frazer in 1809. Richard added Annesley to his surname upon inheriting
Ballysax, Co Kildare from his mother's brother Charles Annesley. Royal licence to
Richard Joynt of Banagher in the King's County to take the name and bear the arms of
Annesley, March 26, 1844. He put his house in Banagher on the market in 1845.
Richard Annesley Joynt Annesley died at Dawson Court on 23 Oct 1853 having been
ill for 4 years. Jane died 5 Jan 1856 aged 80 at 33 Northumberland Road, Kingstown.
1 Anna Harriett Joynt second daughter born circa 1814 married John Frederick
Meekings, MD in April 1836. John was the only son of Thomas Meekings of
Marl Vale, Dublin. Anna died 22 Apr 1842 at Tubbercurry from consumption.
John was living at Ballysax Manor from 1854. He died at sea on board the
steamer 'Countess of Ireland' on passage from Dublin to Plymouth on
20 Apr 1871. Probate was to Robert Cornwall of Rutland Square' for the use
and benefit of the daughter of the deceased'. This Will was later revoked by the
courts.
1 Robert Annesley Meekings only son born circa 1840 died a bachelor
on 5 Apr 1865 at Jubilee Hall, Old Connaught. As grandson to the late
Richard Joynt Annesley, 'he was the last male descendant in Ireland of
the ancient, honourable, and popular family. His loss is deeply
deplored by his friends and by his Ballysax tenantry to whom he
endeared himself both as landlord and friend.
2 Jane Elizabeth Meekings only daughter of Ballysax married Jones Roger
of New York at Ballysax Church. Jane, a widow secondly married
Thomas Thorp, surgeon of HM Indian Navy at Ballysax Church on
28 Sep 1876.
2 Richard Annesley Joynt eldest son born 1817 graduated TCD. Richard junior died
19 May 1836 at Hollybrook Park, Co Dublin.
2 Dudley Joynt born circa 1784 died at Serpentine Avenue, Sandymount on 20 Feb 1849.
1 Charles Robert Joynt born circa 1830 went to Australia. He returned to Ireland in
1866 and adopted the surname of Annesley as the heir of the Ballysax estate in
Co Kildare. He was resident at Beverston, Rathmines Road when he married
Isabella Smith at St Peter’s Dublin on 20 Aug 1879. Isabella was resident at 11
Leinster Square, Rathmines and the daughter of Lawrence Smith. They had five
children. Charles died 1 Nov 1897 at 48 Palmerston Road and was buried at
Mount Jerome. Isabella was living at 23 Herbert Park in 1911.
1 Mary Elizabeth Fraser Annesley 1 Sep 1880 at Beverston, Rathmines
died a spinster on 29 Jun 1965 in Worthing, Sussex.
2 Isabelle Margaret (Sissie) Annesley 28 May 1882 at Beverston,
Rathmines. She married Maurice Lionel Corrie in Bombay on
21 Jan 1911.
3 Harriette Agnes Madeline Annesley 30 Sep 1883 at Beverston,
Rathmines. She married Thomas Wallace Dickie on 9 Aug 1911 at
Christchurch, Leeson Park. Thomas was a barrister living at Ely
Place and the son of Thomas Coulter Dickie, solicitor.
4 Violet Alexandra Emily Annesley 31 Mar 1884 at Beverston, Rathmines
died a spinster in 1961 at Worthing, Sussex.
5 Charles Dudley Joynt Annesley born 4 Oct 1887 at Beverston,
Rathmines graduated Trinity. He inherited the Ballysax estate as a
minor and by 1903 a receiver had been appointed. He married Olive
Hunter Pringle on 18 Sep 1909 at St Bartholomews Church, Clyde Road.
Olive was the daughter of Robert Hunter Pringle. They divorced in
1913. He resigned his commission with the Royal Munster Fusiliers
and later served with the Royal Highlanders, Labour Corps, Royal
Engineers. Charles died at Christchurch, Hampshire in 1947.
