Robert Gray born 03.01.1792, 4th son of George Gray of Graymount, Armagh married
Margaret Kennedy 13.11.1828 at St Mary's Church. Robert was a banker with premises at College
Green. He was in partnership with John Semple, architect in the building of Belgrave Square,
Monkstown in 1884 but the partnership ended in a dispute over money in 1846. Margaret died
13.01.1851 at Temple Hill and was buried at the family vault in Mount Jerome. Roberts was a member
of the RHS and won copious prises for vegetables, flowers and exotic plants. He was appointed a JP in
1866. Robert died 25.12.1871 and was buried at Mount Jerome leaving 90K in personal estate. A
plaque was installed in the Victoria Chapel in their memory.

married Emma Reeves 2nd daughter of Chas F Reeves on 06.04.1854 at Clyde View,
Helensburgh. He was ordained deacon by the Bishop of Kilmore in 1855 and presented
with the living of Stillorgan in 1858. He received his Bachelors in Theology from Trinity in
1863 and his Doctorate in 1868. It was his idea to build a second church in the parish of
Stillorgan and he officiated at the laying of the foundation stone for All Saints Church in
1868. He is also credited with the conception and execution of a memorial window for
Archbishop Whately who had been a parishioner of Stillorgan Parish and who regularly
officiated there. He came in to conflict with the parishioners and the Representative
Church Body when he offered to commute his salary but wished to remain in
occupation of the Glebe House. A resolution was not found and he resigned in 1872 and
moved to Essex. He was instituted rector of Garsdon in Wiltshire in 1877. Dr Gray formerly
of Gildea Hall, Romford and Stillorgan Rectory died 01.03.1901 aged 68 years at 19 Belgrave
Square North, Monkstown and left £500 in personal estate. Emma died on 07.07.1919 aged
87 years Belgrave Square North, Monkstown and was buried with his husband at
Deansgrange.
4 John Trew Gray of 8 Blessington Street born 09.04.1834 and baptised at St Mary’s Church,
Dublin. John married Cecille Kempson in London in 1882. John died 09.01.1905 late of
Longcroft, Hayward Heath, Sussex.
5 Margaret Gray eldest daughter married Rev James John Newbold youngest son of Robert
Newbold MD of Carnew, Wicklow on 24.09.1857 at Stillorgan Church. The ceremony was
performed by her brother Rev Thomas Sill Gray. James died on 04.04.1872 at Clonbroney
Glebe, Longford.

Merrion Street. Anne died 08.01.1929.

MD of Cashel on 27.11.1861 at Monkstown Church. The ceremony was performed by the
Rector of Stillorgan Rev Thomas Sill Gray the brother of the bride. William died on 08.02.1864
aged 33 years at his residence 51 Mountjoy Square, Dublin. Mary secondly married the Rev J
Bruce, son of J Bruce, JP of Cork at St Stephen's Church, Dublin on 29 Sep 1866.
8 Janet Louisa (Jessie) Gray worn circa 1845 married Huband George Gregg, of Oldtown, County
Longford at Monkstown Church on 19 Sep 1873. Jessie died 1 Sep 1881at Longford and Huband
secondly married Violet Josephine Pilkington daughter of Frederick Pilkington.

9 Adelaide Gray married Richard Pim of Alma, Monkstown son of James Pim on 01.08.1870 at
Monkstown Church. The ceremony was performed by Rev Thosmas Sill Gray. Adelaide died
15.01.1890 at Stradbrook Hall. Richard then married Emily (Minnie) Chetham-Strode
daughter of the late A Chetham-Strode of Wairuna, Upper Norwood, London on 04.02.1891 at
St Andrew’s Church, Stamford Hill. Richard died 29.05.1911 at Stradbrook Hall.
10 Harriette Gray youngest daughter married James William Copland youngest son of Charles
Copland of Longford Terrace, Monkstown on 16.06.1869 at Monkstown Church. The
ceremony was performed by Rev Thomas Sill Gray the Rector of Stillorgan. Harriette of
Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin died on 13.07.1914. James, a well known Stockbroker, died on
02.06.1924 at 41 St Stephens Green East, Dublin.
