Richard Freeman of Grange near Boyle in Co Roscommon married Angel McBride from Sligo
at St John’s Church Sligo on 20 Jun 1825. Richard was a Boyle Union Guardian. Richard of
Abbeytown died on his way home from Boyle Fair on Mar 1865. Angel died 1 Mar 1897 at
Annadale, Clontarf. Her daughter in law Anne the informant.
1 John Freeman born circa 1828 was a merchant and draper. He married Anne Lloyd
from Co Fermanagh on 20 Feb 1855 at St George’s Church, Dublin. Anne was the
daughter of William and Margaret Lloyd. They lived at Strandville House and later at
Annadale, St Lawrence's Road in Clontarf. John was a Township Commissioner and
captain of the Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club. John died at Annadale on 13 Jul 1893
and was buried at Mount Jerome. Anne died at Trasna, Clontarf on 23 Jan 1902
aged 72 and was buried with her husband, mother and father.
1 Margaret Angeline (Maggie) Freeman only daughter born circa 1857 died a
spinster at St Lawrence’s Road on 14 Jul 1876 and was buried at Mount
Jerome.
2 John Freeman eldest son born circa 1860 married Alice Isabella Pim at St
George’s Church, Hanover Square London on 4 Mar 1890. John was a
veterinary surgeon and Alice was the daughter of George Pim of
Brennanstown House, Cabinteely. They lived at 4 Burlington Road, where
John died on 6 Jun 1901. He was buried at Mount Jerome. Alice died aged
79 at Mitchells Café and Restaurant on 10 Grafton Street on 10 Jan 1944 and
was buried with her husband. No issue found.
3 Gerald Lloyd Freeman born 1 Oct 1864 at Drumcondra was a licentiate of both
the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons. He worked
as a ship’s doctor aboard the Allan liners. He was lost at sea from the
Cathagenian on 6 Jul 1900.
4 Richard Birt Freeman married Alice Goodbody at St George’s Church,
Bloomsbury London on 5 Apr 1892. Alice was the daughter of Marcus
Goodbody of Obelisk Park, Blackrock. Richard was a veterinary surgeon and
lived at Cooldrinagh, Leixlip and had his surgery and stabling at Lad Lane. The
couple had three children:- Charles, Elizabeth & John. He was on the committee
of the Stillorgan Convalescent Home. He died 7 Nov 1940 and left his estate
to his children Elizabeth & John.
5 Henry D Freeman, fourth son born 18 Jul 1865 at Drumcondra. He was a fur
and silk agent and married Emily Florence Horner (Florence) Brunton at
Presbyterian Church Kingstown on 17 Jan 1894. Emily was the youngest
daughter of William Brunton of Palmerstown Road, Rathmines. They lived at
Brighton Square, Rathmines and later at Lincluden, St Lawrence's Road, Clontarf.
They had five daughters: - Lesley, Enid, Thelma and twins, Sheelagh and Doreen.
Emily died 2 Jan 1942 aged 75 at Sandycove and Henry died 3 Aug 1945 at
Monkstown Hospital late of 3 Breffni Terrace, Sandycove.
6 Charles Birt Freeman fifth son born 19 Mar 1868 at Drumcondra was a
veterinary surgeon. He joined the army veterinary department in 1893 and was
sent on foreign service. He died 5 Jul 1895 at Khar Camp, Chitral, India.
7 William Lloyd Freeman born 6 May 1871 at Drumcondra. He married Mary
Casey on 2 Sep 1891. Mary was the daughter of William Casey, shopkeeper.
William was a director of Monson Robertson & Co, printers and lived at
Lawrence's Road, Clontarf. He was a member of the Clontarf Yacht and Boat
Club. He died 2 Apr 1938 and was buried at Mount Jerome. Mary died
18 Jun 1953 aged 92 and was buried with her husband.

8 Arthur Crampton Freeman youngest son born 10 May 1872 at Strandville
House, Clontarf. Of Trasna, St Lawrences Road, Clontarf he married
Isabella (Belle) Spence on 22 Nov 1906 at Clontarf Presbyterian Church.
Bella was the third daughter of J D Spence of Clifton, Castle Avenue, Clontarf.
Arthur was an insurance official and the couple had at least three children:-
Muriel Helen, Phyllis Belle and Jennifer.
2 Mary Freeman only daughter born circa 1831 married John Montgomery Deane on
1 Oct 1864 at Scots Church, Mary’s Abbey. John was the son of William Deane, a
farmer. John died 1 Aug 1895 at 60 at Beechfield, Novara Road, Bray and on
hearing of his death Mary collapsed and passed away the following today. The
joint funeral was held at Bray and they were buried at Enniskerry. No issue found.
3 William Freeman second son of Richard Freeman born circa 1835 married Anne
Breakey on 8 Dec 1864 at St Mary’s Church, Dublin. Nannie was the daughter of
Francis Breakey of NCR and Sandymount. William was a draper of 14 Henry Street
and 3 Seafield Terrace, Sandymount. He was manager of Arnotts & Co and was
made a managing director in 1876. They lived at Runnymede from 1880 to 1887.
He collapsed at the funeral of a friend in Painsdown and was conveyed by train to
Dublin. As he was physically very large there was difficulty in getting him safely to
Runnymede so he was brought to the house of Dr Moran, physician. He died
6 Nov 1886 at Talbot Street, late of Runnymede having worked at Arnotts for over
35 years. He was buried at Mount Jerome and more than 300 employees of
Arnotts attended the funeral and walked behind the hearse. He left 6K in personal
estate and Runnymede was put up for sale in 1887.

surgeon and emigrated to American in October 1892. He married Margaret G

Hospital and was active in the Boy Scouts of America.

Donnybrook. He emigrated to America and married Mary Louisa Brewer on
21 Nov 1893 in New Jersey. Francis an engineer applied for naturalisation
in 1929.
