Disney of Carysfort Chapel
Robert Disney born circa 1764 son of Brabazon Disney and Patience Ogle. He married Jane
Brabazon from Drogheda on 22 Nov 1798 (ML). He was the rector of Glasnevin from 1799 to
1809 and lived opposite the Botanick Gardens. He was appointed rector of Mitchelstown, Cork
Prebendary of Brigown, Diocese of Cloyne in 1809. He died 8 Jul 1832 at the Glebe House,
Mitchelstown. Jane died aged 72 in April 1840 at Newtown Avenue.

2 Harry Disney born 30 October 1800 baptised at Glasnevin took Holy orders. He married
Charlotte Augusta Matilda L’Estrange in 1829. Charlotte was the daughter of Captain
Anthony L’Estrange of the Connaught Rangers, of Springfield, Kings County and his wife
Anna. They had at least eight children. Harry was vicar at Marshalstown and chaplain to
Kingston College. Harry died on 22 Jun 1847 from fever after attending the Relief
Committee there. Charlotte died on 4 Mar 1882 at Westgate Terrace, London.

3 Lambert Brabazon Disney second son born 6 Sep 1802 baptised at Glasnevin. Captain
Disney of the Hon East India Company’s 28 Native infantry died 24 Dec 1834 at Secunderabad.
4 Jane Disney eldest daughter born 23 Oct 1805 baptised at Glasnevin died unmarried at
Blackrock, Co Dublin on 2 Sep 1834.
5 Robert Disney born 25 Jan 1806 baptised at Glasnevin. He took Holy orders and was
appointed to the curacy of Buttavant in 1830. He died 1 Mar 1831 at Buttavant from fever
caught in the discharge of his duties.
6 Patience Ogle Disney born 19 December 1806 baptised at Glasnevin.
7 William Thomas Disney, fourth son born April 1809 at Glasnevin was with the RN and was
mate on board the HMS Implacable. He died on the ship Asia on his passage to Malta on
15 Dec 1840.
8 Caroline Disney born circa 1810 in Cork married her cousin Robert Antony Disney at
Monkstown Church in March 1841. Robert was the son of Thomas and Anne Purdue of
Rock Lodge, Co Meath and the grandson of Brabazon Disney. They had at least two sons
who entered the army, and sic daughter, one who went to South Africa and the others lived
in Cheltenham. Caroline died on 14 Feb 1855 at Seaview Terrace, Donnybrook. Robert was
a solicitor and died in Cheltenham on 13 Apr 1885.
9 Edward George Disney born circa 1811 in Cork died in on 15 Jan 1854 at D’Olier Street.
10 James William King Disney youngest son born September 1814 at the Glebe House,
Mitchelstown. He graduated Trinity and took Holy orders. He was assistant chaplain of
Carysfort Chapel from 1837 to 1843. He married Anna Maria Oliver on 15 Jul 1841 at
Ockbrook. Anna was the fourth daughter of Late Rev John Oliver of Swepston, Leicester.
He was appointed perpetual curate at Christ Church, Newark-on-Trent where he stayed
for sixteen years. He was a contributor to a book - 'The Errors of Romanism', his subject
was Purgatory. He was appointed the Vicar of Clarborough in 1859. James suffered a
stroke in January 1877 and died on 11 May 1877 at Stamford. Anna Maria died on
28 Dec 1884 aged 69 at Western Terrace, Cheltenham.
