The Derhams were a very long-established Dundrum family. Christopher Derham of Dundrum
son of John and Roseann Derham of Dundrum married Mary Smyth on 27 Sep 1875 at
Rathfarnham Church. Mary was resident at Haroldscross and the daughter Thomas Smyth.
Christopher was a bricklayer and a member of the Irish National League. His sister Mary
married George Gallagher in 1873. The family lived at Harold's Cross and moved to Rosemount
after the death of father in 1882. Mary died 15 Apr 1884 at Rosemount and was buried at
Glasnevin. Christopher died 18 Oct 1918 and was buried at Glasnevin.
1 Roseanna Mary Derham born 18 Feb 1877 at Haroldscross was a bookkeeper. She
was granted a medal and pension for her service from 1917 to 1921 with the the
Dublin Brigade, A Company, 6th Battalion, Irish Republican Army, and her
commanding officers were Andrew McDonnell, Oscar Trayno, Sean Curley and Paddy
Brennan. She died a spinster at Rosemount, Dundrum 10 Mar 1950 and was buried
at Glasnevin.
2 Mary Derham born 25 May 1878 at Elmville, Harold's Cross 1879 was a typist. She
was granted a medal and pension for her service from 1917 to 1921 with the A
Company, 6th Battalion, Dublin Brigade, Irish Republican Army, and her commanding
officers were Andrew McDonnell, Oscar Trayno, Sean Curley and Paddy Brennan. She
died at St Mary’s, Portland Row on 21 Mar 1965. Her funeral was held at Holy Cross
and she was buried at Glasnevin.
3 John Derham born 6 Feb 1880 at Elm Ville, Harold's Cross was a bricklayer. He married
Mary Quinn on 30 Aug 1906 at Holy Cross, Dundrum. Mary was the daughter of
Patrick Quinn. They lived at 2 Campfield Terrace from 1925. John died 30 Dec 1955
and was buried at Deansgrange. Mary died 20 May 1957 at 2 Campfield Terrace. Her
funeral Mass was at Holy Cross and she was buried with her husband.
1 Christopher (Christy) Derham born 30 Jun 1907 at Main Street Dundrum moved to
England. He married Dorothy and was living in Chatham in 1939.
2 Margaret Geraldine Rita (Maggie/Rita) Derham born 5 Oct 1909 at Kilmacud Road,
Dundrum. She died a spinster on 28 Mar 1971 at 2 Campfield Terrace and was
buried at Deansgrange with her parents.
3 John Anthony (Jack) Derham born 12 Jan 1912 at 9 Alexander Terrace, Dundrum
joined the Christian Brothers and worked in the South American Missions.
4 Mary Imelda (Mel) Derham born 4 Feb 1914 at Alexander Terrace, Dundrum.
5 Rosaleen Teresa Derham born 29 Jul 1917 at Alexander Terrace, Dundrum.
6 Veronica Shelia (Sheila) Derham born 5 Oct 1919 at Alexander Terrace Dundrum
worked at Lyons Tea and died a spinster at 2 Campfield Terrace and was buried
with her parents.
