3 Joseph Farran Darley born 20 Oct 1821 was the son of William Darley and Ann Farran
and the grandson of Henry Darley and Mary Steele. He married Catherine Watkins, the
daughter of Joseph Watkins of Watkins Brewery and Mary Anne Read on 12 Nov 1850
at Donnybrook parish church. Joseph was a barrister and they lived at 'The Aske, Old
Bray Road, Shankhill. Joseph died 24 Feb 1874 and was buried at Mount Jerome and
Catherine born 21 Jan 1829 died 6 Dec 1909 at The Aske and was buried with her
husband. A memorial tablet was installed at St James's Church, Bray.

2 Kate Darley, second daughter born 22 Sep 1852 at 14 Upper Leeson Street After the
death of her mother, The Aske was sold and Kate moved to Florence terrace. She built
a house on the grounds, called The Orchard close to the Hackett Memorial Hall. Kate
entered numerous flower competitions and won many prizes over the years. She died
14 Feb 1937 age 85 at The Orchard Bray. Colliers of The Castle works had charge of the
funeral arrangements and she was buried with her parents at Mount Jerome. She left
22K in personal estate.
3 Joseph Watkins Darley born 29 Aug 1853 joined the army and fought at Tel-el-Kebir. He
died 17 Jan 1885.
4 Alfred Edward Darley, second son born 22 Sep 1854 at 14 Upper Leeson Street Dublin
married Elizabeth Maria Kennedy (Lisette) from Co Kildare born circa 1861 on 6 Apr 1891.
He was a partner/Director of Watkins Brewery in Ardee Street. He took control of his
grandfather's company in 1904 after its merger with Jameson Pim & Co. At one time the
brewery produced 4 times the amount of beer of Guinnesses. The company went into
voluntary liquidation in 1937. The Darleys lived at Carysfort Lodge from 1893 until at
least 1924. Their summer residence, Kippure Lodge near Blessington was burned
down in 1923. Alfred died 2 Feb 1942 age 87, at 10 Grafton Street, the informant was
John Critchley who was his chauffeur. He was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Vera Lisette Darley born 31 Jan 1892 in Dublin. Vera was a VAD and worked at
Linden and the Adelaide Hospital, Dublin. In 1915 she worked at Hampstead
Military Hospital and at a Military Hospital in France from 1916 to 1917. She
married Albert Victor Olphert of Stone House, Stillorgan Road a Captain in the
Royal Irish Fusilers on 16 Jul 1919 at All Saints, Blackrock. They were living in
Farnham in Surrey in 1939.

Dragoons married Nina G M Forster only daughter of Col Forster of Holt,
Wiltshire on 1 Dec 1917 at St Margaret's Westminster.
