Richard Dalton
1 Benjamin Dalton born circa 1826 son of Richard Dalton married Ellen Wise Adams
daughter of Francis Adams and granddaughter of late Francis G Wise of Kilbarry
on 23.02.1865 at the Parish Church of St Mary’s, Shandon. Ellen died of typhus on
28.10.1880 aged 38 years and Benjamin a Pawnbroker died on 03.01.1890 aged
64 years both at Summerhill, Cork. They are buried at St Finbarr’s. Probate to son
Henry.

2 Henry Benjamin Dalton eldest son born 18.02.1867 at Main Street, Midleton.
Henry a pawnbroker of Patricks Hill, Cork married Hester Elizabeth (Essie)
Jagoe of East Beach, Queenstown only daughter of Edward Jagoe on
21.06.1892 at Queenstown Parish Church.
3 Francis Adams Dalton born 18.12.1868 at Main Street, Midleton
4 Anna Julia Dalton born 12.05.1870 at Milebush, Midleton. Anna married
William Rodger McTaggart, a merchant and son of Neil McTaggart on 24.11.1891
at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Cork. Anna died on 10.09.1906 aged 36 years
at Deepwell, Blackrock. Her baby son had predeceased her on 23.08.1906
aged 28 days. They are buried at Deansgrange.
5 William Richard Dalton born 29.09.1872 at Main Street, Midleton. William
staying with his sister Isabella Alexander in 1901. Both William and David
Alexander were in the cycle trade. William married May Elizabeth McClean
daughter of William McClean of 73 Grosvenor Road, Rathmines on 17.09.1902
at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathmines. The family lived at Talbot House,
Stillorgan from 1910 to 1914. William died 19.12.1914 aged 42 years by his
own hand at Royal City of Dublin Hospital late of Talbot House. He was buried
at Deansgrange. May died at 3 Jul 1946 at Whitfield House, Goatstown aged 67
and is buried with her husband.
1 Else Dalton (twin) born 19.08.1903 at 20 Merrion Avenue. Elsie of 9
Proby Square married David McCloy Watson of 24 Alma Road,
Monkstown son of William T Watson, a florist on 23.04.1932 at St Andrew’s
Presbyterian Church, Booterstown. David was the grandson of William
Watson of Watsons Nurseries, Killiney.
1 Baby Watson buried at Deansgrange in 1933.
2 Maurice Henry Dalton (twin) born 19.08.1903 at 20 Merrion Avenue.
Maurice married Dilys Marguerite Herschell younger daughter of Arnold
Herschell, Lealands, Egerton Park, Rock Ferry on 06.06.1936 at Trinity
Presbyterian Church, Claughton.
6 Isabella Dalton youngest daughter born 24.01.1874 at Main Street, Midleton.
Isabella married David Williamson Alexander a Cycle Manager of Sundays
Well, Cork 3rd son of Samuel Alexander of Templepatrick on 12.09.1894 at
the Parish Church of St Anne’s, Shandon, Cork.
7 Benjamin Dalton born 15.11.1877 at 6 Summerhill, Cork.
2 Jesse Philip Berry Dalton born circa 1830. Jesse a Baker married Mary Eliza Wilson
daughter of John Wilson on 06.06.1857 at St John’s Church, Midleton. Jesse died
10.10.1896 aged 66 years at his residence Main Street, Midleton. Mary a Widow
continued with the Bakery after Jesse died. By 1911 Mary and John were living at
18 Burdett Avenue, Kingstown. Mary died on 23.01.1923 aged 95 years at 5 Mount
Alto, Dalkey.
1 Mary Dalton born circa 1859 married Alfred Holmes a Slater and Plasterer
son of William Holmes Chief of Villierstown Church on 19.02.1887 at St
John’s Church, Midleton.
2 John Dalton born 07.11.1864 at Main Street, Midleton. John living with his
mother Mary and sister Henrietta in 1901. By 1911 Mary and John were living
at 18 Burdett Avenue, Kingstown.
3 Arthur Dalton born 28.06.1866 at Main Street, Midleton.
4 Isabella Dalton born 27.09.1869 at Main Street, Midleton.
5 Anne Jane Dalton born 04.12.1872 at Main Street, Midleton.
6 Isaac Arthur Dalton born 15.10.1874 at Main Street, Midleton. Isaac a baker
died on 25.02.1897 aged 22 years of Typhoid Fever at Midleton. Informant
brother John.
7 Henrietta Dalton born 03.12,1875 at Main Street, Midleton. Henrietta married
James Blow Ward of Ranelagh (born in Belfast) son of Philip Tyrell Ward on
26.06.1906 at Rathgar Presbyterian Church. They lived at Edenvale Road,
Ranelagh.
