Charles Michael Coyne of Kiltane Abbey, Mayo the 2nd son of Edmond Coyle of Farm Hill,
Roscommon married Annie Eleanor Molloy only daughter of John Denis Molloy of Villa Flora,
Monkstown and 2 Great Dominick Street, Dublin. Annie was the granddaughter of Thomas
Hodgens of Blackrock House. Charles held over 8000 acres of land in Mayo and bred horses.
They were regular attendees at the Mansion House Balls and guests of the Lord Lieutenant.
He was a JP and was one of the investigators appointed under the Arrears of Rent (Ireland)
1882, his residence was Killane Lodge, Erris Bangor, Co Mayo. By 1888 they were living at
Ashfield House, Stillorgan Road, Booterstown, the residence of the Molloy family and that
same year Charles was adjudged bankrupt. Charles died at Ashfield House on the 19.05.1900
and left £1400 in personal estate. Annie died at Ashfield House on 18.10.1900 and left £1800 in
personal estate.
1 Edmund Charles Coyne eldest son born 20.09.1861 at 2 Great Denmark Street and died
on 04.06.1865 aged 3 years and 9 months at Temora, Booterstown.
2 John Michael Cormac Coyne born 08.03.1864 married Sophia Turner of 1 Breslin Terrace,
Rathmines daughter of William Turner on 13.09.1893 at the Roman Catholic Chapel,
Rathmines. Sophia died on 05.10.1904 aged 40 years at Kiltane, Co Mayo.
John a Widower of Elsinore in Dalkey then married Sarah Barrett daughter of Dominick Barrett
on 21.11.1907 at the Roman Catholic Chapel in Dalkey. Charles E Coyne was a witness at the
marriage.

2 Mary Christine Madeline Cormac Coyne born 26.05.1910 at Desmond, Killiney.
3 Maria Louisa Coyne born 23.02.1865 at Temora, Booterstown died unmarried on 17.10.1904
aged 38 years at St Patrick’s Hospital having been ill for ten years and was buried at
Deansgrange.
4 Anne Coyne born 22.11.1868 at 16 Waterloo Road married Ignatius Purcell Hartford, MD, ex
RAMC and son of John P Hartford at Booterstown RC Church on 30.04.1904. By 1911 they
had no issue.
5 Charles Edmund Coyne born 17.02.1870 at 16 Waterloo Road married Annie Aspell daughter
of Thomas Aspell on 03.10.1904 at the Roman Catholic Chapel in Rathgar. Charles was a
land agent and they lived at Ashfield Road in Ranelagh. Charles died on 05.05.1951 aged 82
years and Anna died on 02.02.1953, both at 6 Royal Terrace, Dun Laoghaire. They are buried at
Deansgrange.
6 Elizabeth Coyne born 20.10.1872 at 16 Waterloo Road. Elizabeth died 12.08.1873 at Waterloo
Road.
