Francis Codd a Merchant of 7 Fleet Street and son of Francis and Catherine Codd married
Margaret Ryan the eldest daughter of the late Owen Ryan and niece of Thomas Mooney
of Kilmacud. Francis was a Roman Catholic and a O'Connellite a town councillor and JP.
A skilled negotiator, he was honorary treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce, a director of
Dublin Port & Docks, the Ballast board and the Mining company of Ireland. He was a
member of the RDS his proposers being Mr George Roe & Mr Henry Kemmis in 1846.
His funeral was reported as being one of the largest seen in Dublin with nearly 120 carriages
in the cortege. He was interred in the family vault in the O'Connell circle at Glasnevin.
Morners of all religions attended the funeral. He left just under 90K in personal estate.

Rebecca Teresa Coppinger daughter of Francis Coppinger of 30 Northumberland
Road on 13.7.1892 at St Mary’s Chapel, Haddington Road. Eugene a DL died
01.03.1935 aged 86 years and Rebecca died 02.08.1936 aged 92 years. They are
buried at Glasnevin with his parents.

nun.
3 Mary Codd born on 28.04.1851 at Strickland House and baptised on 04.05.1851 at
Booterstown became a Roman Catholic nun.
4 Francis Codd born 29.07.1852 at Stickland House and baptised on 08.08.1852 at
Booterstown. Francis formerly of 28 Longford Terrace and of Murgaddi Khan Estate,
Bangalore, India died 08.09.1883 aged 30 years at the General Hospital, Madras.
5 Anne Mary Codd born 21.12.1853 at Stradbrook baptised 08.01.1854 at Booterstown.
6 Catherine Maria Codd born 12.09.1855 at Strickland House at Stradbrook and baptised on
30.09.1855 at Blackrock. Catherine married Major Edward Whyte son of Nicholas Whyte,
of Loughbrickland House on 20.04.1878 at the Catholic Church in Monkstown. Edward was
with the Royal Canadian Rifles Regiment and was the military correspondent for the Irish
Times, and purported to be a descendant of Henry IV. Francis died on 10.12.1904 at 5
Belgrave Square and Catherine died on 21.09.1909 aged 52 years at 4 De Vesci Terrace.

05.10.1856 at Blackrock.
8 Helena Codd born 23.07.1858 at Stradbrook and baptised on 08.08.1858 at Blackrock and
died on 31.07.1860 aged 2 years at Strickland House.
9 Anna Marie Codd born circa 1859 died a spinster on 01.02.1930 at 2 Lower Hatch Street
and was buried with her parents at Glasnevin.
10 Alicia Maria Codd born 22.07.1860 at Strickland House and baptised on 21.08.1860 at
Blackrock died 4 Feb 1861 at Strickland House.

He died at his residence Rockville, Rathmines on 6 Jul 1832 aged 55 and was buried at St Mark's
graveyard. Catherine died at her residence in Camden Street 29 Oct 1846 aged 65 and was buried
at St Marks graveyard.

Harcourt Street on the 29.02.1832 at St Nicholas. Francis a Merchant was a member of the RDS
from 1857. He was proposed by Sir James Power and L E Foot. Margaret was the sister of Sir
James Power. Francis died on 02.06.1883 aged 82 years and Margaret died on 26.12.1891 aged 87
years at their residence 9 Corrig Avenue, Kingstown.

2 Catherine (Kate) Codd eldest daughter married John Power of Dame Street on 07.11.1837 at
Rockville, Rathmines.
