Joseph Carroll born circa 1855 son of Patrick and Joanna Carroll. He was resident at
Cabinteely and secondly married Rosanna Anderson at Sandford RC Church on 21 Nov 1883.
Rosanna was a servant resident at Ballyedmonduff, and the daughter of the late James
Anderson and his wife Mary Anna Kenna of Staffordstown in Sandyford. By 1891 they were
living at Grange Cottages and by 1911 they had ten children of whom nine survived. James
worked as a labourer/gardener and in 1913 was working for the Corporation. Joseph died
from flu on 27 Dec 1916 at Galloping Green and was buried at Deansgrange. His son William
the informant. Rosanna died 11 Sep 1929 at Galloping Green, her son John the informant.
She was buried at Deansgrange with her husband.
1 Patrick Carroll born 18 Mar 1885 at Stillorgan. Patrick was a labourer and married
Christina Kenny on 22 Feb 1911 at Kilmacud Church. Christina was resident at
Brookvale and was the daughter of the late Robert Kenny, a labourer. Brookvale
was home to the Cruise family until 1910/11 so she may have worked for the family.
Christina died at Galloping Green on 23 Apr 1912 just two weeks after giving birth.
She was buried at Deansgrange.

2 James Carroll born 25 Sep 1886 at Stillorgan was a gardener living with his parents in
1911. He married Catherine Kelly on 8 Jul 1913 at St Joseph’s Church in Kingstown.
Catherine was resident at Brighton Terrace, Sandycove, and was the daughter of the
late Matthew Kelly, a farmer. Witness; William Carroll.
3 John Carroll born 29 Jan 1888 at Stillorgan. John O’Carroll a gardener of Galloping
Green married Margaret Bradley on 17 Jan 1917 at St Joseph’s Church, Berkeley Road.
John was a labourer. Margaret originally from Kilcock, Co Kildare was resident at 3
Eccles Street and was the daughter of John Bradley, a labourer and his wife Eliza
Mitchell. The couple had six children and John had a job at the ‘Waterworks’ (The
Reservoir), he was later an inspector working for Dublin Corporation Waterworks.
Margaret died 21 Jan 1958 aged 71 at 2 Grange Cottages and was buried at
Deansgrange. John died 28 Nov 1969 at 2 Grange Cottages and was buried with his
wife. Two of their daughters remained in the house.

Brewery cottages and married Brigid Mary Allen on 14 Oct 1914 at Bray RC Church.
Brigid was a domestic servant living at 2 St Kevin’s Square in Bray and the daughter of

7 Daniel Carroll born 17 Aug 1895 at Galloping Green. He was a warehouseman and
married Brigid Butler on 31 Aug 1927 at Holy Cross, Dundrum. Brigid was a domestic
servant, resident at Goatstown and the daughter of Christopher Butler, a county
Council employee. They were living at 114 Kilworth Road in 1949 and the had at least
five children. Daniel died 12 Sep 1973 at Kilworth Road and was buried in Deansgrange
with his son.
1 Christopher (Christy) Carroll second son was a cutter and apprentice tailor
at Abbey Clothing Company in Abbey Street. He was a member of Crumlin
Parish Youth League and also played for Kilworth Rangers Football Club. He
died a bachelor aged 18 from TB at Mercers Hospital on 21 Mar 1949 late of
114 Kilworth Road, Crumlin. His funeral Mass was held at the Church of Mary
Immaculate in Inchicore and he was buried at Deansgrange.
8 Sarah Carroll born 30 Jan 1898 at Galloping Green. Sarah, a spinster and domestic
servant died 29 Jun 1943 at Woodview Cottage, Stillorgan. Richard Appleby the
informant. She was buried at Deansgrange with her parents.
9 Catherine Josephine (Katie/Kathleen) Carroll born 25 Nov 1899 at Galloping Green.
Kathleen married Richard Appleby a chauffeur of Garnaville Cottage, Stillorgan on
19 Oct 1932 at the Roman Catholic Church, Dunboyne. Richard was the son of Henry
Appleby of Avoca. Richard died 18 Apr 1959 aged 65 at Jervis Street Hospital late of
Woodview Cottage, Stillorgan and was buried at St Brigid's Churchyard.
10 Rosanna Christina (Annie) Carroll born 8 Dec 1901 at Stillorgan died a spinster at
Galloping Green on 18 Dec 1925 and was buried at Deansgrange with her father.
Her brother James made the funeral arrangements.
