William Cadge was a customs officer at Dublin Port and a book keeper and cheque in
Stores at the Custom House. He lived at Claremont and North Strand and had a property
in Sligo called Cage lodge/Lough Gill Lodge. He was retired by 1838. Sibella died
22 May 1840 at Lower Gloucester Street and William died 27 Apr 1848 at Stephen’s Green.

1 Anna J Morris born circa 1818 was a boarding house keeper at Hastings in
1891.
2 Marion Frances born circa 1828 was a boarding house keeper at Hastings
in 1891.
2 Elizabeth Cage born circa 1798 died a spinster on 24 Dec 1876 at 4 Sydenham
Road Dundrum, the home of her brother in law. She was buried at Taney.
3 William John Cadge drowned on 17 Nov 1841 in his passage from La Guayra to
Puerto Cabello.
4 Henrietta Cadge born circa 1801 died at North Strand and was buried at St Peter’s
on 12 Sep 1826.
5 Jane Cadge baptised 8 Apr 1804 at St Paul’s married Alexander Graham Johnston
in 1834. They lived at Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock. Alexander was agent to the
Clerical Medical Life Assurance Company and had offices at Eden Quay. Jane died
a widow on 31 Jan 1885 at Charlemont Hall, Dublin.
1 William Henry Gilpin Johnston died 11 Aug 1839 aged 4.
2 Sibella Henrietta Mary Johnston died 7 Mar 1842 at Carysfort Avenue aged
11 months.
3 Son Johnston born 14 Apr 1844 at Caryssfort Avenue.
6 Robert Cage baptised 31 Jul 1805 at St Paul’s graduated Trinity College and took
Holy orders. He was ordained in 1831 and was curate at Castleblaney for 8 years
before he was appointed vicar of the union of Tessara. He was curate of Kilmacallan
in 1841 and promoted to the Rectory of Tamlaghtad in 1844. He married Maria
Hunt on 16 Feb 1854 at Monkstown Church. Maria was the daughter of Rev John
Hunt, Vicar of Rathmichael and was resident at Cherry Wood, Monkstown. Rev John
Strean officiated. Robert was curate at Rathconnell and giving the living of
Rathconnell by the Marquis of Dundalk in April 1854. Robert died 12 Sep 1854 at
Dalkey where he had been staying for the benefit of his health. He was buried at
Stillorgan. Maria then lived with her sisters Anne Hunt and Eleanor Catherine
Connolly at Montebello House in Ballybrack. Maria died 2 Dec 1900 at 85 Pembroke
Road aged 78 and was buried with her husband. She left 4K in personal estate.
They had no issue.
7 Charles Trench Cage born circa 1809 in Dublin lived at Eccles Street. He became
land agent in 1845 to Sir St George Gore (an absentee landlord who would later
become known as the buffalo slayer of the plains of America) who had 1100 acres
at Endrim and Creggan in Kings County. He was murdered on Sunday 14 Oct 1849
on his way to church by 41 gunshots and was buried in Ferbane. He died
unmarried.
8 Harriett Cage born circa 1810 in Ireland living at 4 Sydenham House, Dundrum in
1876. She died a spinster at the home of her nieces (Morris) at Hastings in 1894.
9 Mary Cage, youngest daughter born circa 1813 married Rev John Strean on
19 Jun 1838 at Kirl Bradden Church, Douglas, Isle of Man. John was the eldest son
of Rev Annesley late incumbent of Athlone. Rev Robert Cage officiated.
